The NASSCOM 2013 Social Innovation Honours was presented to“SAKSHAM”

Scholarship Management System by the National Informatics Centre, Lucknow. The

programme is aimed at eliminating leakages and improving transparency in scholarship distribution.

Aiming at social improvement through Information and Communications Technology (ICT),

NASSCOM Foundation, the social development arm of NASSCOM, announced the winners of

the Social Innovation Honours 2013. Organized in partnership with Genpact, these awards

celebrate innovations that promise to bring social change in India.

Participants from across public, private and not-for-profit sectors showcase innovations in the

form of a principle, an idea, an intervention or a combination of all of the above. This year

witnessed projects that focused on challenges such as security for women, e-learning solutions,

and financial inclusion. The eight winning projects have been handpicked by the jury,

comprised of India’s corporate leaders and strategists, including S. Ramadorai, Vice-Chairman,

Tata Consultancy Services Limited and Grand Jury Chairman; Ganesh Natarajan, Vice-

Chairman and CEO of Zensar Technologies, Co-Chair of National Knowledge Council,

Member-Chairmen's Council of NASSCOM; Jaithirth (Jerry) Rao, Chairman, Value Budget

Housing Development Corporate of India Pvt. Ltd. and NASSCOM Foundation Chairman;

Prof. M.S. Ananth, Visiting Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, IISc, Bangalore

and Former Director, IIT Madras; and Rama Bijapurkar, Expert, India’s Consumer Economy

and Business-Market strategy.

First project in the country, using IT based initiative for electronic transfer of scholarships

directly to the bank account of beneficiaries. ‘SAKSHAM’ is a comprehensive, online, end-to-

end service delivery oriented solution that patronizes students and monitors their growth

throughout the education life cycle.
