Salam’s roots were founded by Abdul Salam Mohammed Abu Issa,an aspiring businessman who at a very early age left his birthplacein Palestine to seek better opportunities in the Arabian Peninsula.
When he arrived in Doha in 1950 he brought with him a camera.More importantly, he brought a talent for capturing on film thepersonality of the land and its people – a concept entirely new inQatar which captured the imagination of Qataris.
The history of the Salam organization dates back to 1952 whenAbdul Salam Abu Issa opened the first studio and film processinglaboratory in Doha with the name “Salam Studio.” In 1954 heconverted the adjoining restaurant into a gift shop and jointly, theestablishment was named “Salam Studio & Stores.” The businessflourished. By 1963 the original showroom became too small anda move was made to larger premises. The next ten years saw aconsolidation of business, with much travel to distant countries inpursuit of manufacturers and new products for an increasinglydiscerning clientele. The rapid growth of Salam Studio & Storesaccelerated in tandem with the economy. The pace continuedthrough an ever increasing program of diversification andinternational expansion into the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
Within a few years, Salam’s operations would encompass studios,stores and companies for wholesale, retail merchandise andservices serving the entire Gulf region under the umbrella ofSalam Holdings. In June of 2002, Salam Holdings merged intoSalam International Investment Limited and furthermore, inOctober 2005, Salam Group merged into Salam International,both landmark examples in transforming family-owned businessesinto public shareholding companies.

Chemicals & Environment
As Doha’s leading chemical supplier, we deal with chemicalmanagement contracts as well as the supply of oilfield,refinery and petrochemical performance chemicals inassociation with our globally renowned principals.
SPS has been involved in contracts to supply a wide rangeof chemicals since the start of its operations in 1985. TheChemical & Environment department at SPS undertakestotal chemical management contracts as well as the supplyof oilfield, refinery and petrochemical performancechemicals in association with its globally renownedprincipals.
SPS develops and delivers custom-made chemical productsto our clients as well as technical support before and afterthe sales process. The chemicals we offer are being used inthe oil & gas and petrochemical industries. Many of thechemicals we produce, customize and supply requirecritical care with high maintenance. In order to ensureprovision of consistent and high quality services, thisdepartment also offers after-sales support with repeatedquality control checks. In recognition of our excellence inserving multiple markets we have been awarded a widerange of contracts for the supply of commodity and labchemicals. Our capability to supply these chemicals iscomplying all customer requirements such as Packing,Delivery & Service support, which has given us a reputationin this field.
SPS’s Quality Control LaboratoryWe own and operate a well-equipped laboratory with various analyses instruments which our quality controlchemist utilizes to perform ‘wet chemical’ & ‘instrumental’ analyses. We also manage quality control of receivedchemicals and ensure our products meet exact client specifications. Our Lab’s capabilities include auto-titrations,pH & conductivity measurement, color, viscometry, FTIR, and UV/Vis spectrophotometry. Having our own localblending plant and warehouse that supports long-term agreements helps us to save time as well as associatedcosts. Our professional chemical engineers and qualified staff together produce the highest quality products withbest service to suit each client’s specifications within this plant.
Commodity ChemicalsSince our inception, SPS has been awarded multiple contracts for the supply of commodity chemicals, and inmultiple packings (whether in bulk, tote tanks or drums) to the majority of Qatari companies involved in the oil &gas, and petrochemicals industries including QP, Qatargas, RasGas, Oxy, Oryx GTL, Maersk, Qatar Shell and DolphinEnergy.

Hence, we provide world-class support servicesfrom maintenance to training as well as logistics, even during emergency or shutdown situations. In addition, wealso offer our clients a variety of suitable terms of payment and delivery.
Adding to our scope of chemical supply we provide environmental equipment as well as first class supportservices from maintenance to training, of environmental response with IMO and tailor-made courses tomeet individual customer requirements wherever needed.
Compliance with safety regulations in Qatar
Salam Petroleum`s Warehouse is approved by Qatar government sectors. Our own trucks& vehicles are maneuvered by well-trained and certified drivers complying with Qatar’sSafety & Environment regulations.
Strong logistics capabilities
We are also responsible for packaging, repacking and delivery of chemical products to ourclients. Our Operations team is well trained & certified for such operations, includingloading and unloading of chemicals.Our chemical research team always passes the products we send out through a qualityassurance and quality control test before we send them out to the end-user. We havethree checkpoints of quality control: at our plant, before delivery, we verify if the dispatchmeets the end-user’s requirement and at the destination of delivery.
