    Thehistoriccharacterofapropertyshallberetainedandpreserved.Theremovalofhistoricmaterialsoralterationoffeaturesandspacesthatcharacterizeapropertyshallbeavoided.

    Eachpropertyshallberecognizedasaphysicalrecordofitstime,place,anduse.Changesthatcreateafalsesenseofhistoricaldevelopment,suchasaddingconjecturalfeaturesorarchitecturalelementsfromotherbuildings,shallnotbeundertaken.

    Mostpropertieschangeovertime;thosechangesthathaveacquiredhistoricsignificanceintheirownrightshallberetainedandpreserved.
