Key information as we begin to plan a migration road map:

• While the Web Client has a new Front End, it reads and writes the same data as the Windows Client (LAN)

• Front end customizations do NOT port over• Record-level security is still respected• Concept of Releases for Menus, Toolbars and NavBars

remains• Administrator functionality ported over to Web• Pick lists remain the same• Groups are the same• Data integration, Ksync, Reporting is not impacted• Web client is available on premise or in the cloud

When to migrate

• Your business is undergoing a fundamental shift that includes a fresh look at your CRM strategy (e.g. merger, acquisition, reorganization, etc.)

• You have a need or desire to leverage web and/or Mobile based technologies

• The functional enhancements in the web product are appealing from either a tactical or strategic perspective

• You’re interested in moving to an off-premise solution

Strategies for Migration• Complete Migration

– The totality of your SalesLogix solution is migrated as a whole. – While having the potential to minimize the timeline required to migrate all

functionality, this strategy carries with it certain risks that must be considered.– Two optional approaches; database upgrade or database conversion

• Iterative Migration– Allows for a more controlled migration process whereby your SalesLogix solution is

migrated in logical chunks and deployed in phases.– This strategy has the same end goal of the Complete Migration, but mitigates the

risk factors by introducing logical quality gates within each phased deployment. This strategy will likely extend the overall duration of full system migration.

• Limited Migration– Is different from the iterative migration process in that only specific components of

your SalesLogix solution are migrated, yielding a blended Web/LAN solution. – This type of migration allows an organization to recognize strengths of both

deployment options

The Path to Migration Success

Regardless of the Migration Strategy selected, the migration path is largely the same:

Assess the current Solution

Prepare for Migration

Migrate the Solution

Conduct thorough

testing

Enable End Users to use

the new technology
