Unique scanning algoritim combined with a redun-dant synchronised clock pulse ensures that external light disturbances both visible and infra-red do not interfere with the functioning of the light currain.The sensor is protected against interference by external noise thus ensuring that the outputs continue to function even under noise prone environments.
♦ Interference/ Noise Proof
The XLD series of light curtain offers an external trigger for enabling and disabling the light curtain. This is particularly useful in situations where the user or object eg. loading pallet needs to enter the hazard-ous zone protected by the sensor. This method saves the 3 second power on time of the sensor.
♦ External Enable Trigger!Dual PNP or NPN outputs of 80mA rating are provided for fail safe operation. Seperate output LEDs are provided for both the outputs. RED when there is no interuption, OFF when beam(s) are interupted.
♦ Dual Outputs
A self-test is performed to check for errors when the power is turned ON. Also, the self test is regularly performed (within the response time) while in opera-tion to check for failures. This ensures that in event of a fault in the sensor or circuits the output immediately switches off preventing any accidents..
♦ Self Test
The XLD series has one of the easiest and simple mounting arrangements in the industry. Just bolt the light curtain to the machine surface using standard M4 bolt and nut.When using the sensor in vibration prone places mount it adding the optional dampening washer between the sensor and the mounting surface.
♦ Ease of Mounting
The sensor has advanced LED indication system for status notification.
♦ Advanced Status Indication
ZONE FaultThe XLD splits the sensing area of the sensor into 4 active zones, with each zone represented in the Transmitter and receiver as 4 Green LEDs.The no. of beams in each zone is Total Beams/ 4. eg. If there is a total of 16 beams then each zone will have 4 beams.The zone where the blocked beam is is turned off if there is an intrusion.
Normal OperationThis is the normal operation mode. All 4 zone LEDs are green, blue link LED is flashing and the blue power LED is on.The outputs are turned off (NO) if the sensor is not in this condition.
Enable OFFThis is the standby power on mode where the sensor is powered on but is not operational. When the external trigger input is given it turns on without the power on delay of 2 seconds.Alternative flashing of 4 Zone Green LEDs and 3 Red Alarm, Tx. Err, Rx. Err LEDs, blue link LED and the blue power LED is on.
AlarmWhen any interuption to the normal operation occurs, including intrusion into the protected area, circuit problem, synchronisation and Tx. Tx. errors. The Red Alarm LED and (or) Tx./ Rx. LEDs are flashing, depending on the error. Blue power LED is on.
Link ErrorUnder normal operation the bule Link LED is flashing. In case of an error the link LED goes off and Alarm LED comes on and the ourputs are off.

♦ Alignment
Place the transmitter and receiver facing each other after completing all the wiring according to the instruction sheet.Ensure that the transmitter and receiver are parallel to each other, with a maximum offset of 10° in any angle.Under these conditions the 4 green LEDs in the transmitter and receiver turn green and the alarm Red LED goes off and the outputs turn ON.If the sensor does not go to operation mode despite proper wiring and alignment, try reducing the ambient illumination.

♦ Vibration DamperThe light curtain sensor is designed to withstand upto a maximum of 10G shock and vibration of 0.5mm at 55Hz. This statisfies the general installation environment’s requirements.However if the sensor is to be installed in places with high shock and vibration levels like power & axial presses is it advisable to mount the sensor using vibration dampers.
OPTIONAL PART (Rubber Damper).: XLD-RWThe mounting of the Rubber Damper (XLD-RW) is done between the light curtain and the mounting plate. The damper is placed like a washer betweed the two layers to make way for some shock absorption.
