White on WhiteWhite on White is a simple collection which ultimately produces a simple yet beautiful aesthetic through the clarity of embroidery

technique onto transparency.

Inspired by the patterns and purposeful holes of vintage lace and crochet, the meaning of each piece changes through the manipula-tion of fabric, with the desire to become more delicate and dainty. Handled with grace and care, the translucent fabrics and threads are hand sewn or machine stitched with precision and craftsman-ship, allowing a distinguished layer of marks, texture and wonder-

ful hues of white.

White is the purest of colour in the spectrum and deserves to be appreciated in a new light, and this collection enables the viewer to appreciate the ‘colourless’ colour through the careful consider-

ation of variant shades and embroidery technique.

Some of the connotations of transparent are clear, fragile, trans-lucent and elusive, which depict what the form of a naked body is, as skin is also a fragile material like the chosen fabrics used to translate this point within the collection; this reveals the concept of the collection, which is to conceal and protect - yet to also make

enticing - the female form through lingerie.

Inspire“Oh Grandmother’s lace, so delicate and fine.

Memories breathe within the spacesOf stories and dreams we shall never know.

Oh Grandmother’s lace, so worn with time.Tales of nostalgia yearn to be told

Yet are hidden, as my love for the lace shall grow.”
