Understanding the content and aspects of minimalism in architecture. Establishing
Inferences to adopt and apply standards of minimalism in architecture.
•HYPOTHESIS:
Minimalism is a trend in design and architecture where in the subject is reduced
to its necessary elements. It means limiting to achieve a desired effect.
The idea of
minimalism in architecture
It is about simplifying an equation of design to its clear and simple form.
The idea of
minimalism in architecture
Minimalism is bringing everything down to necessary and fully functional
aspect in design which simplifies the user experience
The idea of
minimalism in architecture
Minimalism is a very broad subject to be discussed. For every master architect minimalism can
be different, for some it can be “less minimalist” or for some it can be “More minimalist”. In
some cases it’s adopted due to less space or low budget or to save time. To me it means
minimalism of quality or minimalism of quantity
minimalism To me
The concept of minimalism in architecture is to strip
everything down to its essential quality and achieve
simplicity. The idea is not completely without
ornamentation; but that all parts, details and joinery
are considered as reduced to a stage where no one
can remove anything further to improve the design.

APPROACH
Minimalism provides a much easier user
friendly design when looking at and using
a design. The design shows only
understandable, easy and clear spaces
with required details. There is no clutter
and confusion, with every detail
containing significance and maximum
functionality. While thinking of a design
typology, the aim was to build for people
who believe in the philosophy of
MINIMALISM.
WHY A MEDITATION CENTER ?
A meditation center is a place where
people come to attain peace of mind,
away from the complexities and
complications of their life. It’s a space
where people require simple form, space
and a minimalist surrounding to gain a
silent peace of mind. The built form has a
significance of beauty, clarity, and
simplicity. People come to meditation
center with a view of training their mind,
balancing the disturbed mind, to stay
calm, empty the mind and attain a simple
form of life. Simplicity and other quality of
minimalism helps us gives a desired built
form for the purpose of living a simple life
to get rid of complexities in life.

Summer Conditions
Summer: Summers are typically hot with maximum temperatures ranging from 37 to 19°C. The warmest month in vasind is generally April.
Monsoon conditions: Monsoon season starts from July and lasts to September. Medium to heavy rainfalls are recorded here annually.
Strengths:
•The up gradation of NH3 has improved the connectivity of Vasind with Kalyan, Bhiwandi and Dombivali.
•The climate of the site is comfortable throughout the year apart of some hot days of summer.
•the river frontage is a added potential to the site as river helps cool down the environment and helps in
meditation. The river also provide scope for creating the recreational space for the center

•the site is mostly barren except large evergreen trees
Opportunities:
•less vegetation ,so minimalist landscape scheme can be implemented
Threats:
•the river pollution is the biggest threat to the site ,since the site boundaries the water body it has to be clean
but if its polluted it is the biggest threat.
•the river flooding is also a threat to the site
•There is an existing MIDC area where industries are set up; further expansion of MIDC may create problems of
air and noise pollution.
