Types of Anchor

Application of Ground Anchor

Ground anchor can be categorized by service period, supporting method, installation angle or injection,

pressing method of grout material. Depending on the service period, anchors are divided into temporary

anchor and permanent anchor. Temporary anchor is widely used to temporarily support soil-cement blocks

or ground, while permanent anchor is for stabilization of slopes or prevention of roll-over and damages of

permanent structures. Depending on the support method of ground, it can be divided into frictional type

anchor, pressure type anchor and complex type anchor. Frictional type anchor is supported by friction

between grout and ground, and thus further categorized into tensioning anchor and pressing anchor, by the

way the load is applied on the grout. Based on the load distribution, it can be divided to load-centric type

anchor and load-distributing type anchor.

Human Removable Anchor (SAMJ-ECD)

Removable anchor is generally used for installation of earth-retaining temporary walls to reduce

additional process when developing adjacent soils by reducing remaining strand after the performance

period of installed anchor. The anchor is effective to increase the on-site build-ability by easy and

convenient separation, reunion of the strands.

Conduct U-turn bending process using unbounded P.C strand (grease oil + polyethylene hose) and install

U-type anchor body frame on the rotational part of the wheel to join anchor cables. The anchor delivers

residual stresses first to P.C strand and to anchor body frame and then supports of anchor. For removal of P.C

strand, pull out a part of the strand using crane or applicable equipment after disassembly.

Pack Anchor (SAMJ-ECD PACK, SAMJ-U TURN PACK)

Pack anchor is applied when the ground is weak or when it is hard to ensure the pull-out force of existing

anchors. The pack installed on the anchorage whose grouting pressure expands to increase the friction against

ground maintains the stability between the anchorage and the ground.

Characteristics

1. Secures tensile force on grounds to which general earth

anchor is not applicable

(e.g. weak ground, reclaimed layer, gravel layer, sand layer)

Multi Type Removable Anchor(SAMJ-MT ECD)

MT-type removable anchor efficiently distributing tensile loads on

anchorage section, using multi-layered strands joined on the head of

anchorage with different lengths. As the tensile load is distributed to parts

and thus reduced, the anchor is not fragile to the grout stength while

effective for securing anchorage strengths on relatively weak ground.

Frictional Permanent Anchor(SAMJ-LTF)

Characteristics

Permanent anchor is a double friction anchor preventing corrosion. It is widely used in local and overseas

market, and applied for reinforcing retaining wall, stabilization of slope and prevention of buoyancy. Currently,

permanent anchors are widely applied for high towers or bridge bases where overload is applied, as well as

plant, dam, and tunnel.

Compressive distributing permanent anchor increases the force of anchor by cement grout which increases

the forces of friction and adhesion on ground and anchor body frame.

The anchor uses unbounded PC steel strand (grease oil + H.D.P.E hose), waveform duct for perfect

waterproofing, and thus is widely applied to reinforcing retaining wall, stabilize slope and prevent and thus is

It stresses strands at the same time by applying pressure to a point inside of the closed cylinder using

ELECTRIC POWER HYDRAULIC PUMP, and then distributing as much oil pressure as the pressure to all the

points of the target.

Re-Prestressing System

Ground anchors inevitably lead to not only creep of ground and relaxation of tensile components, but also loss

of tensile force due to the characteristics of the anchor system on the introduction stage. In that the lifespan of

permanent anchor should be consistent with that of the applicable structures, the represtressing for durability

and maintenance of anchors is important.

Represtressing system provides the capability of restressing by complementing those defects, and ensures the

designed lifespan of permanent anchors.
