Hey everyone,
I would whole heartedly thank each and every one
who had contributed to this book.
At the foremost I would like to thank the Almighty.
My mom and dad for their blessings and support.
They have always supported me in all my decisions.
I would also like to thank my little sister BABLI as
she is the first reader of my book and also my guide in
various examples of life. Even though younger to me but
she holds a better opinion than me in almost every
situations.
And most importantly my duos, my lifelines, my
besties PINAKI DAS and NAVANITA NAYAK. I will
definitely say that without them it would not have been
possible for me to complete this book. They have always
been there for me through all the ups and down of my
life. I cry with them I laugh with them and a lot more. A
big thanks to both of you.

Prologue
India won the toss and chosed to field. Pakistan gave a
good score. A target of 365 was set for India.
It was time for India's batting. The opening batsman
were Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Its the final
match. India versus Pakistan. Everyone were sitting with
their fingers crossed in the front of the T.V.
The first ten overs were wonderful. India played
well. In the eleventh over India lost its first wicket. Rohit
Sharma was caught out. After a gap of two balls there
was the fall of the second wicket. It was of Shikhar
Dhawan. Captain Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh
Dhoni were on the bat.
"We have chances Dad. After all Dhoni is still on
the run." My sister said.
"Yes absolutely we have. I will not lose hope till the
last over." Dad replied.
"Where's Meghna?" Grandpa interrogated.
"She is not well. She is suffering from headache."
Mom told Grandpa.
Unfortunately Virat Kohli was run out after just
scoring twenty-five runs. He too could not score well.
May be it was not the day for India.
Even though everyone was tensed regarding the
cricket this was the first time when I was not interested
in the game. I was in my room. My room was dark; I had

put off the lights as I wanted no one near me. I did not
want anyone to see me in such a condition. I want to be
alone. I told mom that I am suffering from acute
headache. But the fact was the traumas were driving me
insane.

Grandpa
"My phone beeped".
After suffering from such traumas I didnot feel like
checking the phone but I was pretty much sure it was
her. The girl who made me smile in all my times. So
slowly creeping out from the bed I reached out for my
phone. Yes! It was her. "Preety", my best friend..
"Meghna. India lost the match. Shit yaar."
"Hmm" I replied.
"What happened?"
Even though I was heart broken those messages
bought a little smile to my lips. I replied
"Call me."
Immediately the phone rang.
Preety on the other side "You bitch, can't you tell
for yourself that you need me".
I exhaled deeply.
She didnot ask me what I was going through
because she knew it all. She just told "Yaar Pakistan
defeated India in the finals."
And this lead to a forty-five minutes conversation
between us. After we disconnected mom called out
everyone for dinner. Everyone was at the dinning table.

Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa and my little sister. I
arrived there and began to eat in silence. Suddenly Dad
asked me how’s my studies going. I nodded that it was
going good. Even though everyone was there only
Grandpa could read my eyes. After dinner I went to help
my mother with her left over work but Grandpa called
out for me. He asked my sister to help my mother as he
wanted to walk with me in the garden. We both went
out.
Grandpa offered me a chocolate. I took it without
even looking at him. He held my hand and asked "Ki hol
Dhun?" (What happened princess?)
I nodded and replied "Nothing Koka (Grandpa)."
And faked a smile.
His reply bought tears to my eyes.
He said "Princess I have been with you since the
time you were born. Even though you are pursuing your
Masters but I know you much more than you know
yourselves. You can fake a smile and say that
everything's fine but what about your eyes? Its swollen
and tired and sweetheart it reveals everything; your pain
too."
I burst out into tears. I howled over and cried at my
grandpa's chest. He did let me cry and then asked "Now
tell me what happened"
I told "Grandpa, the world is full of double-faced
people. We cannot trust anyone. We cannot love anyone.
Even though we love we do not get anything in return.
What we get is betrayal. People abuse us. They
questions our character.. I.... I... "
I was about to say more but he interrupted. He told,
"Listen to me now. You need not tell me anything
further. I understood everything. There will be situations
in your life where nothing goes in your way. At that time
opportunities galore to everybody to hammer a point on
you, to insult you, to laugh at you, to comment you, so to

all of them the best reply is instead of reacting with
words just respond with a success. None can stay happy
by hurting someone else. If someone hurts you, just stay
calm and have patience. It might take days, months or
even years but trust me one day they'll repent for hurting
you. At the present let them hurt you as much as they
want but the point is you shouldn't get affected. Instead
you should overcome all these and reply them with a
grand success."
Grandpa's words were out of the world. It helped
me a lot to drive away all those traumas for that present
moment. I responded "Thank you Koka. You are great.
Thank you so much for consoling me. I love you."
"I love you too beta" grandpa replied.

College
"Meghna" Mom shouted
"Coming mom, two seconds" I responded.
I hurried up. I was already late. It was 9:30. I had
my classes from 10 o'clock.
"Your breakfast is ready" Mom told.
She served me puris, veggies and kheer.
"Eew mom! Its so oily!"
"Stop your nonsense and eat it"
"No mom, I won't. If I eat all this what's the point of
waking up early and going to the gym then? I had hardly
lost my weight mom."
And as usual she made up her face and growled
"Khai thak ji khao"
(Eat whatever you want)
I reached for the fruits and filled my plate.
Grandpa looked at me and smiled.
"Take your grandpa along with you. He have some
work at the post office" Mom told.
After breakfast I took my scooty keys and left
for college.
"Bye mom" I shouted.

"Bye" she replied.
On the way Grandpa asked me if I am alright now.
I responded with a smile.
"Yes grandpa. Thanks for your words. Your words
healed my sorrow"
"Time will heal you too"
After five minutes we reached the post office..
Grandpa got down from the scooty and I drove to
my college.
Preety and Navu were already there.
"Sorry sorry" I apologized after parking my scooty.
"Lets hurry up. Madam Surekha already went"
Navu told.
We hurried off for the class and reached before
madam.
The boring classes started on British literature.
Madam Surekha was the HOD of our English
department. She was an expert in this field. But she was
a very strict teacher and was quite adamant too. We had
no other option rather than to bear the boring lectures for
forty-five minutes..
Each class lasted for the same.. We did three
consecutive classes and decided to bunk our fourth class
and go for a walk in the nearby park.
"Lets eat something" Navu suggested.
"Why do you want to eat always Navu?" Preety
asked
"Because I find peace in eating" Navu laughed after
replying..
We laughed in unison..
"You okay now Meghna?" Preety asked me
"Yes I am alright."

"You should be. Don't lament over the loss of some
stupid. People reject expensive things because they can't
afford them"
Preety always had a message in her words. Preety
and Navu are my close friends. I met Preety at the higher
secondary level. Even though we were at the same
college but we weren't that close by then.. Our
graduation studies brought us closer.. And now we are
so close that at times even without saying we can read
each other's mind.
"I am famished" Navu said
"Me too" I replied.
We came to the nearby restaurant for lunch. We
ordered two plates of fried rice and one plate of chicken
butter masala for us. The food was served after twenty
minutes.
"It’s yummy" Preety said
"See my choice of restaurant is always the best"
Navu smiled.
Navu always have the habit of appreciating herself.
Her sense of humour is the best among us. She knows
how to reply quickly with clever replies. The best part is
she knows how to put people in their right places.
After paying off the bill we went for our tution
class. Even though the tution class was extremely boring
like that of the college classes but we always found our
tution classes to be very interesting. The sole reason was
our teacher, Sir Ajay. His dressing sense, his looks, his
physique drives everyone crazy. We waited for him to
come. He came after five minutes. He wore a light blue
shirt and a black formal pant which looked awesome on
him.
"Have you completed your assignment?"
Sir Ajay asked
We hung our head low.

Nightmares
"Grandpa I need your help for my assignment. Its
literally a headache for me."
The assignment has become a headache for me. Its
about the Elizabethan period. The discoveries, changes,
occurring etc that had taken place in that period. I
needed a help. But Sir Ajay disapproved to help us. As
he wanted to see how much we learnt. So, now only one
person left and that's my grandpa. My saviour in all
cases!
"Yes of course sweetheart. But before that I will
have to read some reference books in order to refresh my
knowledge" Grandpa laughed.
"Oh common grandpa, you are the most intelligent
person I have ever come across. Here take the books. I
have brought it for you"
Grandpa began to read the books. He was an
extremely talented person. He did his bachelor's degree
in English. After BA he opted for the LLB course. He
passed out with flying colours after which he got a job as
a teacher.

"Give me tonight's time. Your assignment will be
ready by tomorrow"
"Thank you so much Grandpa"
"Ok now go to sleep"
“Goodnight Grandpa".
I switched off the light and lay down on the bed with the
cellphone on my hand. I switched over to whatsapp and
scrolled down the contacts.
"THAT CONTACT HIT ME"
"Send a text" my heart replied.
"Don't you even try" my head reciprocated.
I opened the profile and the status showed "online".
The battle between my heart and head continued. A drop
of tear rolled down my cheek. Even though I appear to
be alright everytime in front of everyone only my pillow
knows the real me. The status haunted me. I just
switched off the cellphone and hugged my pillow tight.
Heaps of memories flashed over. Finally sleep came
over. I slept finally.
"No means no" He said
"Please babu please. I promise nothing will go
wrong between us anymore now. But just give me one
chance please" I requested
"No, I can't afford all these now. When we were not
in any relationship then why did you say it to everyone
that I am your boyfriend" He replied
"No, I did not. Please trust me. I love you. I can't
afford to lose you" I pleaded
"Listen, I have to go now" he said
"Just listen to me once"
"What? Speak up fast. I don't have time"
"Please come back, please. I need you"
"Never. I won't be the same old person I used to be
before. Don't you understand I don't have any feelings

for you. I never had any. Whatever bond we shared its
all over now"
"Please don't say like that. I can't live without you. I
beg you please"
"You are very boring. But I like to talk to her now.
She is amazing. And not at all boring like you. She won't
put any tag upon me of being her boyfriend or
whatsoever."
He disconnected the call without letting me to speak
more. I tried ten more times. But every time he rejected
the call. And then he sent an sms. "If you call me one
more time I will block you"
Reading the message i just howled over loudly;
cried as loudly as i could.
I woke up suddenly. It was the nightmare again. I
drank a bit of water. It was 12 midnight. I hardly slept
for one hour. The nightmares haunt me every day. I
reached for my cellphone and opened the hidden folder
which contained only his photos. A total of one hundred
and fifty photos. I looked at it and cried. I cried bitterly.
I wished him to come back to my life. I hugged my
pillow tight and cried my heart out.
"Meghna! Your eyes! Why are they red again?" Preety
exclaimed.
"Huh! Nah nothing. I guess something went in"
I replied.
"Kak misa koiso? Muk ne nijoke?"
(Whom are you lying to? Me or yourself?)
I didn't respond.
"You didn't sleep right?" She asked
I nodded a yes.
She gave me a tight hug.
Navu interrupted "Can i please know what actually
happened? Because I am unaware of the exact story."
