FREE Workshop for TBG Partners and Ministries.

Gil Mertz has been a successful grant writer for 30 years and has helped raise millions of dollars in grants for large ministries and small non-profits for a wide variety of Christ-centered causes. He can help you find new money to fund the vision of your ministry.

How your ministry can raise more money and broaden your revenue stream through foundation grants

Orange County Tuesday, March 6, 2018 8:00am - 10:30am Fuller Seminary Orange County 17744 Skypark CircleIrvine, CA 92614

While most donations come from individual donors, the second highest source of charitable giving by far is from foundation grants. Last year over $57-billion was given away from more than 100,000 foundations.Dollar for dollar, there is no faster or higher return on your development investment than seeking grants from like-minded foundations that share your vision.

Isn’t it time your ministry got your piece of that pie?

At this workshop you’ll learn:

1. How to get your ministry “grant ready”to apply and receive grants.

2. How to find the right foundations thatwill give you money.

3. How to introduce your ministry toprospective foundations.

4. How to put together successfulproposals that will get funded.

5. How to manage your ongoingfoundation strategy and process.

We are launching a Coaching Cohort for 2018 and we invite you to consider being involved. The Barnabas Group is committed to “connecting marketplace leaders with ministry opportunities.”

We have a coaching opportunity that we need help with!

4 times this year: March 8th, May 3rd, September 6th and November 1st we will gather a group of local Non-Profit Leaders together and match them with a group of Barnabas Partners to create a Coaching Cohort. The goal of this time is to surround these leaders with TRAINING, RESOURCES, COACHING and COMMUNITY, and the end result is greater effectiveness in their leadership and in their organization. A community provides opportunities for relationship, for help, for collaboration. We are asking our Barnabas Coaches to bring with you not only your experience in leadership, but to be willing to share your lives as you engage in this coaching relationship. Our first Coaching Cohort has space for 12 Non-Profit Leaders and 12 Barnabas Partners that are committed to engage together through this year. Each session will include conversations around the HEART of leadership, QUALITIES of leadership, the ROLE of a leader and the LEGACY of a leader. •Barnabas Partners will be introduced to some incredible local non-profit organizations and you’ll be able to help them in their growth and sustainability. •If you know of a non-profit leader that might benefit from this Coaching Cohort, please introduce them to us.

The cost to engage in this Cohort is included in your Barnabas Membership!

STANDING STONE MINISTRY UPDATE! We are pleased to report that Standing Stone Ministry, a ministry dedicated to caring for pastors and their spouses, trained 31 new Field Shepherds during 2017 to bring our total number of shepherds to 55. All of our Field Shepherds are gifted leaders with decades of pastoral experience. We desire to care for pastors around the country at risk of leaving the ministry prematurely. The best statistics available reveal that 1,700 to 1,800 pastors are leaving the ministry every month – the top two reasons are ministry burnout and marital issues. Our shepherds know the pressure and challenges facing these men and women and offer a safe environment for them to vent and process their issues with individuals that have walked in their shoes. At this point in time we are actively caring for close to 800 pastors, 300 ministry wives, and two dozen international church leaders. Please lift this vitally important ministry up in prayer. Also, please help us connect with qualified men and women who have proven character and a passion to invest in other pastoral leaders. Call me directly at (949)701-7353. NORTHRISE UNIVERSITY UPDATE! Northrise University continues to lead the way in private higher education in Zambia by being excellent at what is good. In a country where over 80% live in abject poverty, living on less than two dollars per day, Northrise University stands as a beacon of hope and transformation. Centered on Christ, Northrise is developing the next generation of leaders through academic excellence, spiritual formation, and economic empowerment. Currently, 314 Northrise alumni serve throughout Zambia in business, ministry, education, and government. In addition to degree programs in business, information technology, theology, and law, new programs are under development including nursing, engineering, agriculture and education. Set to launch in February 2018, the new Bachelor of Nursing program is built on a foundation of excellence in academic and clinical preparation. Schools of engineering, agriculture and education are planned to open in January 2020. Partnerships with U.S. universities continue to expand with four Northrise students currently attending Dordt College to complete degrees in agriculture and engineering. These students are preparing to eventually return to Zambia to join the faculty of Northrise. With the strong support and prayers of God’s people, Northrise continues to empower the people of Zambia, one student at a time. WAREHOUSE SPACE NEEDED – NORTH SAN DIEGO Marty and Lori Lauber, San Diego TBG Partners, are expanding a non-profit called Born Again Furnishings. They are currently located in north central San Diego and are in need of warehouse space in that area. They have been chosen to partner with a huge international retailer to distribute returned items to those choosing to transition out of prison, the military, abusive relationships and those escaping persecution from rogue countries through churches and partner ministries. If you have any suggestions or are able to help this Godly ministry, please contact them at (760) 908-9233 or at [email protected].

The MEND Project seeks to Educate, Equip, and Restore those impacted by Primary and Double Abuse.

What do you do? We provide clarity to victims by naming overt and covert abusive behaviors. Clarity is the first step to healing. We develop and teach curriculum to front line responders (church leaders, therapists, NGO and community leaders) so they are better able to identify abuse and respond to victims of abuse without causing further harm. We name further harm for what it is, Double Abuse. We teach about the high physical and emotional costs to victims, why it is imperative to follow the highest protocols to prevent Double Abuse.

The Barnabas Group – Faith Works Team – Ministry Presentation Report (Version 6.0)

organizations)

The Passion Project Our “BHAG” (Big Holy Audacious Goal) is:

Break ground on 20 unengaged people groups in 2018

E. THE FIVE DRUCKER QUESTIONS (internal) From: The Peter F. Drucker Foundation Self-Assessment Tool: The Five Most Important Questions Every Nonprofit Organization Must Ask (leadertoleader.org)

1. What is our mission?

To bring the Gospel to those who have never heard, fulfilling Jesus’ call to go everywhere.

2. Who is our customer?

• Our PRIMARY customer is: Those who are unengaged with the Gospel • Our SUPPORTING customers are: Gospel Patrons who invest in people

groups. 3. What does the (PRIMARY) customer value?

Knowing Jesus, then support for replication and discipleship.

4. What have been our results?

15 UUPGs engaged with 3000+ new followers of Christ in just over 3 years (5700 have professed Christ).

5. What is our plan?

To support those groups to replicate and to engage more groups at a rate of 5 new ones each year.

F. S.W.O.T. ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES • Bias for action in sharing the gospel • Proven process and results • Innovative approach to getting results in missions • Priority Living administrative support

• Single threaded leadership needing further scale. • Repeatable process for funnel closing of agreements on

partnerships is not tried and true.

OPPORTUNITIES THREATS • Come alongside existing teams looking for breakthroughs in

hard to reach people groups. • Evangelical Churches looking for opportunities where they

have no mission board or staff. • Create and strengthen partnerships • Find other senior leaders who can think like entrepreneurs to

help us reach more people groups.

• Security and Access to locations • Inability to scale discipleship model • Finding and sustaining Apostolic leadership in each people

group. • Funding channels may not materialize as planned. • Financial constraints could be a timing issue while scaling.

G. THREE STRATEGIC (and specific) WAYS FOR TBG MEMBERS TO BECOME INVOLVED No. Opportunity/Task/Volunteer Role Target

How it Works

Strategy in Brief NCF allows you to give interests in appreciated real estate (raw land, residential,and/or commercial real estate) to NCF prior to sale. This strategy avoids capital gains taxes on the gifted portion, and you will likely receive an income tax deduction for the appraised value of the gift, freeing up additional cash flow for more giving.

GIVINGFUND

Property or interests gifted prior to sale (give all or some)

You receive an income tax deduction

BUYER

Gifted portion sold tax free Sale proceeds to NCF

Recommend more grants from proceeds to your favorite charities

As a result of giving assets vs giving cash, nearly $300,000 MORE would go to your favorite ministries while increasing net cash flow by $158,541 for more giving or other options!
