2017: LOCAL GRASSROOTS GROWTH
⬧ San Diego County Democratic Party created an online Action Center to meet demand for engagement (www.sddemocrats.org/action)
⬧ We registered (and pre-registered) 6,000+ voters, 75% younger than 25
⬧ Our chartered Democratic Clubs increased from 38 to 51
⬧ Our email list grew by 15%; our social media following grew by more than 20%

⬧ We organized 6 campaign trainings attended by more than 200 aspiring candidates and campaign workers
⬧ SDCDP-led Neighbors in Action program trained 300+ people to canvass and organize in their communities
⬧ Our County Democratic Convention set attendance and fundraising records
⬧ Our local elected Democrats led the way on policy – healthcare, climate, housing, criminal justice, and more

NEW STATE LAWS IN EFFECT
⬧ Automatic voter registration through DMV; voters not selecting a party will be flagged as “Unknown” rather than No Party Preference
⬧ Right for residents to do political canvassing in condo associations (SB 407)
⬧ Conditional voter registration – registration through Election Day (but only at Registrar of Voters office)
⬧ Ballot collection (AB 1921) – canvassers can pick up voters’ ballots and turn in for them
BUILDING SDCDP INFRASTRUCTURE
⬧ County Party working with Democratic clubs and other groups to expand voter registration efforts
⬧ GO Team trainings and kickoffs taking place this spring for Precinct Leaders – Community Coordinators needed in every part of the county
⬧ Ongoing programs: communications, candidate development, voter education
⬧ Goal to increase Donate Every Month (DEM) membership from 150 to 300 monthly donors (www.sddem.org)
WALK FOR PROGRESS JANUARY 27
⬧ Countywide canvass on Saturday, January 27, to engage new and occasional voters leading up to the Primary Election
⬧ Walks launching at 10:00 a.m. at locations in Kearny Mesa, Vista, El Cajon, and Chula Vista

STATE PARTY CONVENTION FEB. 23-25
⬧ 3,000 California Democratic Party delegates, candidates, and electeds gathering at San Diego Convention Center
⬧ Official Party endorsements will be considered for all state and federal races (70% vote required)
⬧ Convention volunteers will receive a floor pass to attend general session
⬧ Most other convention events open to all Democrats, committee meetings, caucus meetings, hospitality suites
