THE PACESETTER: Wells Fargo tops the list of the largest financial institutions ranked by deposits according to data provided by the Financial Deposit Insurance Corp. The bank had $12.8 billion in deposits at local branches as of June 30, an $800 million increase from last year. That accounts for 21.6 percent of deposits in the market. The San Francisco-based bank has 83 branches in the greater San Fernando Valley area.

THE PACESETTER: Logix Federal Credit Union remained the largest credit union headquartered in the Valley with $4.1 billion in assets as of June 30. That’s a 6 percent increase from a year earlier. The Burbank institution was founded as the Lockheed Aircraft Federal Credit Union in 1937. It was chartered with 131 members and less than $4,000 in assets. It changed its name to Logix in 2012 to reflect its current membership policy, which is open to the general public. It had 149,882 members as of June 30.
