Description:
Designed by CATALYST ARCHITECTURE principal Matt Ackerman, LEED-AP AIA, the 17,000 sq.ft. Administrative Headquarters and Visitor Center Complex for the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge is located approximately 100 miles southeast of San Jose, CA. This state-of-the-art facility features a 55Kw roof-mounted photovoltaic array, SIPs (structural insulated panels), a weathered steel skin, timberframed lobby, and operable clerestory windows for natural daylight and ventilation. The Design Team is currently preparing documentation for a LEED-Platinum certification through the USGBC. The building is expected to be a Less-Than-Zero building, meaning that the facility will contribute more energy than it consumes.
