Meaning Of Hanukkah
The eight-day Jewish celebration known as Hanukkah or Chanukah commemorates the reded-ication during the second century B.C. of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, where according to legend Jews had risen up against their Greek-Syrian oppressors in the Maccabean Revolt.
Hanukkah, which means “dedication” in Hebrew, begins on the 25th of Kislev on the Hebrew calendar and usually falls in November or December. Often called the Festival of Lights, the
holiday is celebrated with the lighting of the menorah, traditional foods, games and gifts.
Meaning Of Christmas
Christmas is both a sacred religious holiday and a worldwide cultural and commercial phe-nomenon. For two millennia, people around the world have been observing it with traditions and practices that are both religious and secular in nature. Christians celebrate Christmas Day as the anniversary of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, a spiritual leader whose teachings form the basis of their religion. Popular customs include exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas
trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and, of course, waiting for San-ta Claus to arrive.

Beat The Holiday Blues
Although the holidays are a time of joy for many, they can also trigger symptoms of anxiety and depression to different
degrees.
There are several reasons people may experience symp-toms of anxiety or depression over the holidays,
said Robert Hales, chair of the UC Davis Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Symptoms
may indicate the “holiday blues” or be signs of a more seri-ous major depression.
Time Change, Overeating, Lack of Sleep,
Overscheduled and Lack of Exercise are some causes just to name a few!
Comparing the holiday blues to a depressive disorder is like comparing a cold to pneumonia, Hales said. Major depres-sion can destroy joy and make it impossible to focus on life!
Ways to cure the Blues?
Spend time with Family and Friends, enjoy a relaxing Bubble Bath or Hot Shower, Take a nap or even a walk
outside for 10 minutes! These will help you beat the blues in no time!!

Holiday Exercise Excuses
EXCUSE: It's too cold.
EXCUSE BUSTER: Surely, with the temperatures dropping and the holi-days being just around the corner, Mother Nature becomes a great
excuse to avoid the gym or experi-ence the great outdoors. If this is the case for you, bring the gym
home —literally.
Stair steps, chairs, your living room
floor, and doorways can all be easily converted for exercise. Use
these body-weight-only exercises to keep your exercise routine on track.
EXCUSE: I don't have the time. EXCUSE BUSTER:
With holiday gift-shopping, get-togethers, cooking, hosting and
entertaining family members, time is more precious than ever. If you
feel like you're too busy to fit in regular exercise, try combining exercise with some of your daily
activities.
Park your car further away from the entrance at the mall; set up walking
business meetings; take your dog for an extended walk; and create
workouts with your co-workers during lunch. Recruit your family for fun, aerobic activities, such as taking
brisk walks, engaging in a friendly snowball fight or visiting the public ice skating rink, the ski slopes or playing Nintendo Wii Sports video games. Physical activity is a great way to relieve stress, create team spirit and tighten emotional bonds.
