Twenty Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

September 30, 2018 St. James warns us about accept-ing the standards of the world and assuming that what is nor-mative in society needs no coun-tercultural challenge. The tempta-tion to hoard riches and make sharp bargains at the expense of the powerless is pervasive be-cause these things are generally done and look respectable enough. St. James points to God’s judgment on these atti-tudes and actions of amassing wealth and comfort at the ex-pense of others. How might we be better stewards of the material blessings we have been given? How might we use our wealth with compassion toward others?

SEPTEMBER FLOWERS IN HONOR Doug Hlavaty & Family

Deacon Ron Vowels & Family

SAN RAMON YOUTH— grades 9th-12th will meet on Sunday evenings from 5:30-7 p.m. Contact Ryan and Brittany Bradley for more information at 806-577-8643. The Youth Program will begin on September 30, 2018. VOLUNTEER GARDENERS/LANDSCAPERS NEEDED—We are looking for volunteer gardeners/landscapers to help manage and develop the entrance and gar-den areas around the church and RE building. Tasks include weeding, pruning, mulching, some new planting and watering. Volunteer hours are flexible, however, to keep the area looking great throughout the year, we are looking for someone who can offer at least two/three hours per week or a similar time each month. Please contact David Salinas at 806-787-6338 if interested. KNOW YOUR FAITH: Why do we bow before receiving the Eucharist? Why do we use holy water? Why do we genuflect before entering a pew? What does the Sacrament of Reconciliation truly mean? Why do we honor Mary, the Mother of Jesus? Why do we stand while the Gospel is being read and bow during the incar-nation part of the Apostles Creed? What is a novena? Come to RCIA/Adult Edu-cation to learn more about the Catholic faith and truly understand what it means and how every part of our Mass is based on Scripture! Wednesday evenings, 7:00-8:15 p.m. in the RE building. TEAM MARY is starting a new book study! Join us on the first Thursday of each month as we read and discuss “When Women Pray”. Please contact Tricia Vowels or Rosa Coy to order your book; no cost to you. Next meeting is October 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the RE building. CCE CLASSES every Wednesday from 7:00 p.m.—8:15 p.m. for grades K-12. Registration will continue through the month of September. We are in need of TV’s, new or used (in working condition), for the CCE class-rooms. Would appreciate 40” flat screen and above. Wonderful opportunity for church groups and/or families to support our CCE Program and our children. Please contact Tina Christophe or church office, if you are able to help out.
