and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. Por eso, Padre, nosotros, tus siervos, y todo tu pueblo santo, al celebrar este memorial de la muer-te gloriosa de Jesucristo, tu Hijo, nuestro Señor; de su santa resu-rrección del lugar de los muertos y de su admirable ascensión a los cielos, te ofrecemos, Dios de gloria y majestad, de los mismos bienes que nos has dado, el sacrificio puro, inmaculado y santo: pan de vida eterna y cáliz de eterna salvación.

Therefore, O Lord, as we cele-brate the memorial of the blessed Passion, the Resurrection from the dead, and the glorious Ascension into heaven of Christ, your Son, our Lord, we, your servants and your holy people, offer to your glo-rious majesty from the gifts that you have given us, this pure vic-tim, this holy victim, this spotless victim, the holy Bread of eternal life and the Chalice of everlasting salvation.

Be pleased to look upon these offerings with a serene and kindly countenance, and to accept them, as once you were pleased to accept the gifts of your servant Abel the just, the sacrifi ce of Abraham, our father in faith, and the offering of your high priest Melchizedek, a holy sacrifice, a spotless victim.

In humble prayer we ask you, al-mighty God: command that these gifts be borne by the hands of your holy Angel to your altar on high in the sight of your divine majesty, so that all of us, who through this participation at the altar receive the most holy Body and Blood of your Son may be fi lled with ev-ery grace and heavenly blessing. EVANGELIO (Mt 1, 18–23)

María, su madre, estaba desposada con José y, antes de vivir juntos,resultó que ella esperaba un hijo por obra del Espíritu Santo. José, su esposo, que era justo y no quería denunciarla, decidió repudiarla en secreto. Pero, apenas había tomado esta resolución, se le apareció en sueños un ángel del Señor que le dijo:

Hermanos: Como pueblo elegido de Dios, pueblo sacro y amado, sea vuestro uniforme: la misericordia entrañable, la bondad, la humildad, la dulzura, la comprensión. Sobrellevaos mutuamente y perdonaos, cuando alguno tenga quejas contra otro. El Señor os ha perdonado: haced vosotros lo mismo. Y por encima de todo esto, el amor, que es el ceñidor de la unidad consumada. Que la paz de Cristo actúe de árbitro en vuestro corazón: a ella habéis sido convocados, en un solo cuerpo.
