OUR MISSION

Sand Sisters Los Angeles Inc. is an educational nonprofit designed to empower youth and women to be healthy and build self-esteem. Through our after school enrichment program, summer beach camp and quarterly women's workouts, Sand Sisters mentors women and girls to value the unique qualities that set them apart from others and gives them the tools tobe their best selves. We strive to make sure every Sand Sister finishes our program or event feeling strong, confident, intelligent and one-of-a-kind.

THE ISSUE

Self-esteem is an important determinant of adolescent mental and physical development. Children are affected by how much they feel accepted, liked and loved. If they are missing those elements, they often act out toward others or themselves by means of bullying, drug or alcohol abuse and self-loathing.

Bullying, body issues, absent parents, lack of interest from teachers, media

portrayal of the “standard female,” all aid in lowering a female's self-esteem and

self-worth. Much of the influence of an individual’s self-esteem comes from

early positive experiences with adults, which is where our mentoring comes into

play. Through our after school enrichment program and summer beach camp

we create opportunities for children to excel and experience success, which in

turn helps children develop a sense of self-worth. Students have all of the skills

to build their self esteem, they just need positive mentors to give them the

“toolbox” to learn how to facilitate using those skills.

AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT

5 - 12 YEARSS T U D E N T S ' A G E S

Sand Sisters Los Angeles is a youth program designed to EMPOWER children

to lead active and healthy lives through social emotional learning. A positive

themed word of the week is incorporated into each lesson through a guided

journal, linked to a kid approved active game or exercise circuit. Our lessons

are based on our belief in respect, high self-esteem, health and community.

Sand Sisters Los Angeles holds a youth beach camp promotes health and wellness and nurtures children to connect with the ocean on a deeper level through the confidence they gain while engaging in water sport activities. The camp provides a happy, healthy, compassionate and safe environment for the campers to blossom at their own pace. Each week is unique, but includes:

Sand Sisters hosts monthly women empowerment and fundraising events by

partnering with local brands to bring strong women in the LA community together to

connect through health and wellness experiences. Empowerment events have

included yoga, SoulCycle, goal setting, mindfulness, drum circles, etc. We've

partnered with TOMS Shoes, Spiritual Gangster, Pura Vida Bracelets, Quest,

SoulCycle & more.
