SankalpTaru’s Earth Day campaign - An urge to ‘Stop Plastic Pollution’ Perturbed by the degrading plight of our beautiful planet which had been sustaining lives over decades, SankalpTaru Foundation initiated ‘Taru Se Prithi’ campaign to greenify Earth Day. The initiative is an urge to motivate people for boycotting plastic pollution and planting trees instead to adorn Mother Earth with greenery. Realizing the fact that Earth is in sheer need of contribution from each individual, our Earth Day campaign aimed towards mobilizing masses for conserving environment and planting trees massively to refresh atmosphere with natural oxygen cylinders. Taking a step ahead with the campaign, SankalpTaru Foundation did massive plantations in the snow-covered mountains of Leh Ladakh and in the depleting natural infrastructure of The Aravallis Range at Delhi NCR. ‘Taru Se Prithvi’ is a solemn pledge of greenifying the planet with as many trees as possible, adhering to make each day Earth Day. Also, as a successful initiative, our campaign could bring people closer to their planet and its nature by providing them a virtual platform to plant trees, under which huge number of individuals rooted their saplings to join us in the mission. SankalpTaru’s Earth Day campaign - An urge to ‘Stop Plastic Pollution’

Perturbed by the degrading plight of our beautiful planet which had been sustaining lives over decades, SankalpTaru Foundation initiated ‘Taru Se Prithi’ campaign to greenify Earth Day.

Greenifying Leh Ladakh on Earth Day When it rains we plant, when the sun shines we plant, when its stormy we plant and now when it’s snowing in Leh Ladakh we are still planting in its high passes. Thus, as a post-winters activity, SankalpTaru Foundation conducted massive plantations at Khalatsey village of Leh Ladakh on the occasion of Earth Day. The mission is to rejuvenate Leh with lush greenery for producing sufficient oxygen through our apple saplings planted in the hilly region. As these saplings would grow to transform themselves as healthy blooming trees, the local communities and villagers of Khalatsey village would sustain their livelihood through the fruits and attain efficient nutritional benefits, simultaneously.

Creating Green-Lungs in The Aravalli Range with Project Bhavnam The Aravallis are a vital ‘Recharge Zone’ for Delhi NCR which are in extreme need to be protected. Thus, SankalpTaru Foundation initiated Project Bhavnam in the hilly and rocky mountains of Aravallis to plant trees massively and rejuvenate the region with lush greenery. This natural infrastructure of Delhi NCR is being aggressively exploited to create concrete jungles, where the trees planted under Project Bhavnam intend to create green lungs in and around the surrounding areas, while revitalizing water table levels. The project was launched on 22nd April i.e. Earth Day with the pioneer tree planted by Gram Sarpanch of Kukdaula village in Gurgaon with a vision of bringing down the capital city’s striking pollution levels through each tree planted under the campaign. Although the extremely rocky and rugged terrain of Aravalli mountains became a major stumbling block in land preparations, but our enthusiastic team along with the passionate local volunteers made it possible and dug pits on the harsh surface along with planting healthy saplings on it.

SankalpTaru organized farmer workshops & meets at Talupula, Andhra Pradesh Despite of the erratic weather conditions in Andhra Pradesh, our dedicated farmers from Talupula have been practicing farming to develop beautiful orchards on their fields. To enlighten the farmer communities about sustainable farming techniques and water decomposition methods in Talupula, SankalpTaru conducted farmer workshops and meets, wherein an active participation was observed from various rural farmers. The farmer beneficiaries were also felicitated with gifts and appreciation certificates for their dedicated efforts made towards cultivating the plantation fields to sheer green patches blooming with fruits of hard work.

Worshipping trees with Project Hasiru Sankalpa For the farmers at Chikmagalur, Karnataka, trees are a sacred preaching they worship before plantation. While initiating tree plantation for Project Hasiru Sankalpa, the associated beneficiaries worshipped Arecanut plants to sustain livelihood and environment with their healthy growth. Chikmagalur is famous for its coconut and arecanut belt which is decreasing due to water scarcity and uneven weather conditions in the region. Thus, with our saplings planted under the project we vision to reinforce greenery and support rural livelihood in the state of Karnataka. Along with preaching their green deities, the farmers have solemnly pledged to foster each sapling with utmost care, wherein SankalpTaru will too be supporting beneficiaries to adapt innovative farming interventions for cultivation.

West Bengal is being rejuvenated with Mangoes and Guavas - Project Shyamolima Project Shyamolima - a SankalpTaru initiative in the Eastern Indian state of West Bengal is a mission to escalate greenery along with uplifting rural farmers of the state. West Bengal has nearly 3% of the nation’s cultivable land where the agricultural sector is characterized by the predominance of small and marginal farmers. Hence, an adverse need was felt to strengthen the region’s agriculture. Under Project Shyamolima, huge number of Mango and Guava saplings have been planted on the state’s rural farmers’ land which would be nurtured through regular care and close monitoring from ST team. Once the plants begin transforming themselves to fruiting trees, they would act as an essential source of great revenue generation for associated beneficiaries.

SankalpTaru Media Mention – April, 2018 SankalpTaru's green endeavors of planting varied plant species in Neembla village of Barmer district in Rajasthan was covered by Rajasthan Patrika and Hindustan Times. Also, our farmers meet and workshops held in Talupula village of Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh were covered by Anathasagaram Magazine to motivate the region’s rural farmer communities for tree plantation and rendering a step ahead in conserving environment through agriculture. Such timely local and national media mentions help us in reaching out to masses and mobilizing them for tree plantation, hence adding more and more people to our green mission.

Beneficiary of the Month V. Chinna Gangaiah is our zealous tribal farmer beneficiary from Talupula, Andhra Pradesh who had been dedicatedly cultivating his land despite of adverse water scarcity in his region. From few tiny saplings planted on his land way back in 2012 to developing a lush green orchard spread over 18 acres, Gangaiah’s hard work is resulting fruitfully in the form of luring mangoes blooming on his trees. His passion for agriculture led him irrigating his huge field with a single bore-well, standing firm against the scanty water issues. In-spite of it being extremely challenging to help Gangaiah due to Talupula’s erratic environmental conditions, SankalpTaru Foundation lend a supporting hand to this marginal farmer who had enthusiastically achieved greenery by investing his day and night at the plantation blocks. Post-ripening, the mangoes would help in sustaining Gangaiah and his family’s livelihood through sufficient revenue generation.
