Paddle in the Santa Cruz County? The SUP Shack now has two great locations. The original SUP Shack in the Santa Cruz Harbor and now a SUP Shack located in Rio del Mar that Trudie Ransom opened with her partner Paul Horvat.

Most locals know the SUP Shack in the Santa Cruz Harbor, as it has be-come a “go to” spot since it opened in 2011. Many people don’t know that the brains behind the operation is Ran-som. Ransom paddled a long way from her native England to bring the joy of

stand-up paddling to Santa Cruz. Fol-lowing the success of the Santa Cruz location, Trudie recently opened a sec-ond SUP Shack in Rio del Mar.

An entrepreneur at heart, Trudie is con-stantly on the lookout for in-teresting opportunities. From scuba diving in Australia to bamboo rafting in Thailand to swimming in Japan, Trudie’s sense of adventure is pervasive.

She has the biggest, widest boards available, so people can have fun and learn properly. The wobbly board sur-face makes it very effective for building the core muscle groups, and for training muscles to enhance your SUP perfor-
