Bright Futures was created to strengthen the vitality of the Weld County community through its workforce.
The program is for qualifying Weld County residents who have graduated from high school, GED recipients and honorably discharged U.S. Veterans
Recipients receive financial assistance for tuition and fees to pursuepost-secondary education or training from a Title IV accredited higher education institution or certified training program.
What is Bright Futures?
From the inception of the program (2016):
● 3,550 Students have received a Bright Futures Grant
● Bright Futures Students have completed over 42,000 hours of
community service to nonprofits in Weld County in 2018
● Weld County Commissioners have designated 3 million dollars
per year until 2023 to go directly to our grant program

Application Deadlines
June 30th for Fall Semester – THIS IS YOUR DEADLINE
Students MUST apply one time and then continue to complete the annual requirements(s)
If you are new to the Bright Futures program, create an eScholarship profile found on the main page of the Bright Futures website. This is where you
will complete your application.

Note: Community Service Hours, FAFSA and other requirements must be completed BEFORE the application deadline.
Grant recipients must attend Title IV institutions within Colorado and its surrounding states which includes Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Wyoming.
Geographic Region
High School & GED Graduates:
1. Weld County resident – You can attend High School outside of Weld County and still qualify for
Bright Fututes, as long as your home is located in Weld County. NOTE: If you are attending
High School outside of Weld County, you MUST send your Transcript and Proof of Graduation
at the time of application and proof of residency in Weld County for two years.
2. Attend the mandatory meeting at your high school, or view presentation online.
3. Complete a FAFSA (before the application deadline)
4. Complete16 hours of community service in Weld County (before the application deadline)
5. Attend a College or Title IV Certification program inside the Geographic Region
6. Your Bright Futures grant must be started within 2 years of graduating high school or your GED
program, and completed within 6 years.
7. APPLY BY JUNE 30, 2020!
Bright Futures College Students:
1. Stay Enrolled at your higher education institute or training program
2. Update your Bright Futures Student Portal with all required information
3. Maintain a 2.0 GPA
4. Apply for FAFSA
5. Complete 16 hours of community service in Weld County each year
All STUDENT REQUIREMENT CHECKLIST – TAKE A PICTURE OF THIS SLIDE!
• Create an account and complete the Bright Futures application via the eScholarship Portal on
the Bright Futures home page - https://www.brightfuturesco.com.
• Upload your verified FAFSA to the documents section of your account, selecting ‘student aid
report’ as the document type and entering the school year for which you are applying to receive
the grant. ALSO, list each school you are considering in your FAFSA.
• Complete 16 hours of community service in Weld County and upload your completed
community service log to the programs section of your Bright Futures account.
• ALL community service must be done within Weld County and be of service to helping a person
or organization.
• Attend the mandatory meeting at your high school and acknowledge your attendance in the
programs section of your Bright Futures account.
• Enter school interest information in ‘My Colleges.’ Make sure to check the enrolled box and
enter the appropriate semester and school year. This information can be entered prior to
actual enrollment at the school. Without this completed, Bright Futures is unable to issue funds.
