Rites & RitualsWhere does the soul go?There is no certainty where a person goes after death. But according to ourvedas and shastras there are two categories. In the first one, the dead persongets free from the birth and death chakra and attains moksha, in the secondone a dead person goes to hell or heaven according to his bad and goodkarmas respectively.Again in the second category, there are two ways : (i) light, day, shuklapakshaand uttrayane - dead person attains first category and after leaving this bodygets free from birth and death vicious cycle and attains moksha and (ii) dhoom,night, krishnapaksha and dakshanayane - dead person according to his karmasagain gets birth and gets death and so on and remains in the cycle of birth anddeath.
Is it essential to feed shradh (manes) to a Brahmin only?When we sow a seed along with other necessary ingredients, it gets hundredtimes, nay thousand times bigger, one grain of (heeng) afoetida called tadkagives its effect to hundreds of people, similarly a word spoken on a radio reachesthousands of kilometers away to other place, when a particular wavelength isplaced we get the same word any where in the univers, thus whatever it puts inthe agni (fire) gets amplified and reaches to umpteen number of people. Anythingwhen put in fire (agni) gets purified. Similarly Brahmin when he gets the shradh(food read people) it reaches to the concerned pitra up above in the welkin andempyrean.
Why but the Brahmin?It is given in Vedas and shastras that as the agni is produced from the mouth ofthe virat (brahma) so also a Brahmin is born from the mouth of the Lord. Henceas we put matter in the agni and say "Swaha". Similarly when we feed shradh(manes) to a Brahmin it reaches the "Pitra" - there is no exaggeration in it.But again if a Brahmin eats suppose ten shradhs in a day, then his weightshould correspondingly increase, but it is seen that at the end of the day and atthe end of shradspaksha (15 days) his (Brahmin's) weight is more or less thesame, where does that food go then? The said food (shradh) reaches to the"pitras"! the Brahmin is just the medium through whom the food reaches thepitra. Hence shradh should be fed to Brahmin only.
Why to give a Brahmin Dakhna=Dakshna (i.e. charity/alms)?It seems strange that first of all the Brahmin eats the shradh of a pitra, thenover that it is imperative to give Dakhna=Dakshna to him!Some people envy and object upon this ritual and custom. When in their house, a sacred act is performed like naming ceremony,engagement, marriage or tonsure ceremony at that time, they willingly give thepurohit the charity or when the social obligations are performed and for thatthey give "chanda" to them or give fees to institutions and schools, why thenthey object to give dakshna to a Brahmin?Actually no sacred act is complete without giving dakshna. According to Vedasalso:In the welkin the stars that are shining are the ones who gave dakshna toBrahmins. Those who give dakshna only shone like a sun.He only getsimmortality. He only lives for a longer life.in religious books a "Yagya" well performed but without dakshna is regardeduseless and meaningless.A purohit (priest, Brahmin) who is well versed in Vedas and has done accordingto "Vidhis" the Pooja, yagya, tarpan, havan with full devotion without dakshna thenit is not ethical and tentamonts to insult of that Brahmin. He should be well honouredand should be given deserving dakshna with full respect and "Shradha".

The Effect Of Saturn On The Twelve Rashis
In the year 2013 Saturn will be in Libra Rashi. In 2013 Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, Rahu, Ketu can beeffected by Cancer. On Aries rashi due to Saturn influence, Cancer will come.

Pushpanjali - God Loves Flowers!Flowers are an integral part of our daily rituals, in fact it is believed that the absence offlowers in a ritual, is as good as an incomplete ritual, it is much like having a weddingwithout garlands, a concept, which is impossible to imagine. The “Kularnava Tantra” talksof why flowers are also alternatively referred to as “pushp” in hindi, (apart from the morecolloquial “phool” or the English “fool”) etymologically, the word pushp is an amalgamationof the the words “paap, naash and shubh phal” the underlying message being, that withthe offering of flowers to the lords, our negative karma - paap, is destroyed (in a sense) -naash, and as a reward for offering flowers to the lords, we are blessed with good timesahead, literally speaking, we bear the fruit of our actions -(shubh) phal. So in essence itsays, that when we offer flowers to the lords, the lords are so pleased with our offeringsthat they, relieve us from the consequences of our negative karma, thus, effectively addingpositivity to our lives.
Lord, who is simple in his taste, as he is in the creation of this world, he is not swayed bythe offerings of wealth; he simply asks for devotion. So even something as simple as aflower, when offered by a devotee, becomes priceless as the pot of gold at the end of therainbow. In the words of lord Krishna -
“ pattram pushpam phalam toyam yo me bhaktya prayacchati, tad aham bhaktyuprhatamasnami prayatatmanah."
"whosoever offers to me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water, that pious offeringof the pure in heart, I accept.” (Gita, Ch. 9, Shloka 26)
Having quoted the lord himself, it is important to realize that not any flowers will please thelord. It must be remembered that any offering of any flower made to the Lords, the flowermusi be placed, faced upwards towards the Lord. In the same vein, the “Kulvarna Tantra”gives us guidelines of avoiding offering flowers such as
1. Those fallen on the ground
2. Those infested by insects
3. Those with damaged petals
4. Those which have been stolen from a garden
5. Wilted Flowers
After having established some basic ground rules, it is important to remember, tnai everGod. just like humans, has his set of likes and dislikes in terms of flowers. It would bepointless to offer him a flower which does nothing to please him, and expect positiveresults from it. Here are some guidelines as to which flowers to NOT offer to certain Gods:
Lord Shiva : NO Ketki (screw pine), Kunda (Jasmine Manipuri)
Lords Vishnu : NO Dattura (Angels Trumpets/Moonflowers) Goddess Durga : NO Aak(Calotropis/Milkweeds) Sun God : NO Tagar (Crep Jasmine/Pinwheel flowers)
So what do we offer to these lords? Well every month has an auspicious flower for each ofthe Gods. Example,

Ekadashi which falls in bright fortnight (Shukla Pakash) of Margashirsha Month (SindhiNahiri) is called 'Mokshada Ekadashi'. On this day Shree Krishna narrated the knowledge ofGita to Arjuna. By observing fast on this Ekadashi, ignorance is vanished away and one finds thepath of 'Moksha' liberation, emancipation from the cycle of birth and death. For 'Moksha' one hasto take efforts himself / herself. The importance is given to Margashirsha month because amongstthe 12 months of Hindu calender, Margashirsha is very dear to Shree Krishna who himself says
Amongst the different varieties of hymns appearing in Samaveda, the variety known asBrahatsama is the most prominent and hence the best. The Gayatri is the most important of allhymns in Vedas. I am the hymn known as Gayatri. In the days of Mahabharata, the year used tobegin with the month of Margashirsha. (Maha - Anu Chap. 106 - 109). Besides scriptures promisegreat rewards to those who observe fast in this month. The spring season is the queen of allseasons. Trees are clothed with green leaves and flowers. The climate is very pleasant neithertoo hot nor too cold. The Lord declares to be His own self. Gita Jayanti is also celebrated on thisday by worshipping Shree Krishna and compiler Mahrishi Vedvyasa. Gita contains divine wordsemanating from the lips of God Himself. Its glory is infinite and unlimited. Gita is an epitome of all

The Gita alone should be sung, heard, recited, studied, taught, pondered, assimilatedproperly. What is the use of collecting other scriptures? For the Gita has emerged directly fromthe Lotus like lips of God Vishnu Himself. The Gita is even superior to Ganga and Gayatri. Hewho takes a dive into Gita only gets liberated himself but also gains power of liberating others.The Ganga has sprung from the feet of Lord whereas the Gita has emanated directly from thedivine lips. One who practices Jaap of Gayatri secures liberation only for himself. The Gita is anunfathomable ocean of wisdom. Though the devotion to God confers on the devotee the highestboon in the form of God - realisation, its practice, far from being difficult, is exceptionally easy in

Karma, My Best FriendEverybody is born with his Karma. Our past actions, deeds and thoughts have created our
today and today's actions, deeds and thoughts will create our future. Whichever situation we arein today is created by us. Be it good or bad, easy or difficult people in our life have been attractedby our Karma.
It is easy to blame others for the situations or agony caused in our life, but no body can beresponsible for our sufferings. They can be a tool, a mean to manifest it in our environment: butour Karma is our responsibility.
In simple words, karma is action taken in certain situation. The situation which we can'tovercome in our life becomes our Karma. Once we understand the notion of Karma, weautomatically come to recognise that we ourselves must strive to overcome the problems. One'sKarma can be manifest in many ways, financial, relationship and sickness or health Karma. Thisrecognition enables us to establish the true independence. We must act to eradicate the negativeKarma at the root level.
Through Prayer, we are able to activate our inner life force at the most fundamental level.Any type of karma can be changed. This also differs from person to person, remedy for all theproblems begin with the individual's change in perspective and action taken on that. As each ofus have unlimited powers within us, how much we are able to cultivate that, that entirely dependson individual's determination. Determination plays a very important role on taping our true potential.How deeply we can grasp? How strongly we can tap into the aspect of our lives? Which comprisesinfinite potential. Then only we realise the mystic truth of our existence and develop a strongsense of purpose and responsibility to this world.
Our karmas are like our mirror, which show us the reality of life, but at the same time giveus the opportunity to change the negative into positive.
All the experiences from last and present lifetimes are accumulated in our consciousness.These karmic seeds are found at a very deep level of life and they do not disappear with death.
No matter what our circumstances are now, however we can freely improve ourselvesthrough prayer and the action. To be superficially content with the way weave or getting frustratedwith our circumstances ultimately creates no value. It is wise to move toward cultivating deeperwisdom and compassion and if we reflect upon our past attitude and behaviour, we can use oursorrows and sufferings as a springboard for development.
The influence of particular karma will be extinguished after its energy is unleashed in one'slife. This is similar to a plant seed that sprouts and grows to blossoms as a flower or bear fruit,after fulfiling it function the same seed will never repeat the process. Bad karma can be erasedonly after it blossoms in the form of our suffering. Prayer gives us the courage to overcome ourkarma.
So friends, lets pray and make our karma our true friend and overcome courageously,whichever are left to be overcome.
