Australia Day 2018 Friday, January 26, 10am - 1pm Sarina Cultural Hall and Anzac Precinct
Banding together for the Invictus Games 2018The Sarina RSL Citizens Auxiliary and the QCWA Sarina Branch joined forces recently in support of a laundry bag project being conducted by Queensland State Office of RSL Auxiliaries. After a recent visit from the QLD State Office committee asking for help with the project, the ladies took on the challenge and created six varied and unique Australiana designs. The project is to craft handmade laundry bags which will be presented to each competitor of the Invictus Games 2018 being held in Sydney. With Prince Harry as their Patron, the Sydney games will attract more than 500 competitors from 18 nations to compete in 10 adaptive sports. They will thank family and friends for their role and the challenges they share in supporting our wounded warriors. Sydney will host around 1000 family and friends who’ll be in the stands cheering.
The Sarina RSL Citizens Auxiliary holds a ‘Golden Age’ bingo and morning tea on the first Friday of the month at Sarina RSL. Joining the Citizens Auxiliary is a great way to volunteer and support our ex-service Veterans.

Lesley Rix - Naturopath> Urinary Tract Infections are extremely common with approximately half of all women experiencing at least one. But for some, they continue to reoccur and can cause permanent damage to the kidneys. Treatment often involves antibiotics which also affects the gut bacteria leaving us prone to more urinary tract infections.
> Why do they occur? Sometimes we are simply exposed to the bacteria. More commonly our intestinal bacteria has become upset due to diet, medications, lifestyle etc and we have an overgrowth of the wrong sort of bacteria. Women are more commonly affected simply due to design.
> What can we do naturally? Sometimes antibiotics are inevitable, but often if we can treat the infection early with herbs such as goldenseal, andrographis or cranberry.
Essential oils such as oregano and thyme can eliminate the bacterial overgrowth and the biofilms that lead to these infections.
We also use specific probiotics that include competitive bacteria such as Saccharomyces boulardii which allows the good bacteria to flourish. Another major factor is changing the diet. Eliminating processed carbohydrates and sugar is a good start.
If you suffer from UTI’s consider the changes that you could make to break the cycle of antibiotics.
