NORTH AMERICAN OPERATIONS
ARIZONA: The Tucson alumina facility produces both high-purity and ultra-high purity calcined alumina products used in high-purity ceramics and synthetic sapphire. LOUISIANA: The Lake Charles Chemical Complex manufactures products used in the cleaning and personal care markets to produce ingredients for soaps, detergents, shampoos, cosmetics and more. We also manufacture specialty chemicals used in mild abrasives, thickeners and pharmaceuticals, as well as in the enhanced oil recovery markets. PENNSYLVANIA: The production facility in Oil City manufactures antioxidants used in a variety of products such as fuels, lubricants, polymers, printing inks, food additives and pharmaceuticals. TEXAS: Sasol’s North American Operations headquarters in Houston handles corporate administrative functions. Our Greens Bayou facility in Houston manufactures products used as starting materials in a wide array of chemical intermediates and finished products including resins, wire enamel solvents and antioxidants. Our plant near Winnie receives feedstock from the Greens Bayou plant to produce high purity meta cresol and para cresol using a proprietary process.
U.S. MEGA PROJECTSasol’s world-scale petrochemical complex is currently under construction adjacent to our existing site in Southwest Louisiana. The complex will triple the company’s chemical production capacity in the United States and enable it to build on its strong positions in robust and growing global chemical markets.
At the heart of the project is an ethane cracker that will produce 1.5 million tons of ethylene annually, benefiting from significant economies of scale. The complex also includes six chemical manufacturing plants.
The project will create more than 700 full-time jobs, more than 5,000 construction jobs at peak and thousands of indirect jobs in Louisiana and across the United States.
