Satan Mankind’s one True Enemy

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,

It is important that we learn about our enemy Satan

He is the force that opposes God & his children

His main objective is to destroy us

Introduction


Satan is not red with a pitch fork living in hell

No one actually knows what he looks like

We have not seen him except in symbols, just like we have not seen God

Satan Is Not....


We see the evidence of his existence in the world, in every wicked action, in every act of sin and in every trial and tribulation

We see the results of his work in cemeteries & hospitals as well as the pain and agony that comes upon us all

We see it in guns, violence, murder and abuse

Satan Does Exist


Satan was originally one of the covering Cherubims that covered the mercy seat of God

His name was Lucifer, son of the morning

Lucifer became uplifted with pride and thought that he should be worshipped like God & sit in the seat of God

Where Does Satan Come From?


Lucifer wanted to rule over the last world (earth) that God had created

He envied Christ and would not humble himself and worship him

His disobedience and rebellion brought about a terrible consequence

It brought about the force of Death (Wisdom of Solomon 2: 23-24 in the apocrypha)

Where Does Satan Come From?


Lucifer led an insurrection against God, causing 1/3 of his angels to rebel against him

Lucifer could no longer be a Cherubim when evil was found in him

The word of God that was in Lucifer became tainted and twisted and he began to oppose the law of God

Lucifer became Satan

There Was War in Heaven


God created Adam & Even and placed them in the Garden of Eden

Two trees were placed in the garden, the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil

Inside the tree of knowledge of good & evil was a poison

God had told Adam & Eve not to eat of this tree or they would “surely die.”

Satan Causes Man to Sin


To disobey God is to commit a sin

Satan, once being a Cherubim, knew the laws of God including the judgment that states, “the soul that sinneth shall die”

He took advantage of God’s younger more naive creation, that being Adam & Eve, and manipulated them into eating of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good & evil



This sin that Adam & Eve committed caused death to reside in the flesh of all humankind

What Satan didn’t realize was the plan that God had made from the beginning to save his children

God being wise above all, knew that mankind would not be a match for an ancient, powerful enemy such as Satan



God the Father sent his only begotten son, Jesus, to this earth to be crucified for our sins

Christ’s obedience to the father, the power of his blood and the fact that he died NOT having committed a sin, brought about grace

The grace of God provides us the opportunity & time to repent for our sins

The Blueprint of Salvation


Sin is in the flesh of all human beings at birth, making the nature of man’s flesh evil

Our minds are open to the imagination of sin and the knowledge of evil

Satan has the power to come into our minds and tempt us

These factors make the battle to overcome sin very difficult

A Difficult Battle


We cannot fight Satan like you fight a man because he is a spiritual force

Though he is more powerful than us, we can resist and fight him with the word of God, which includes his laws & testimonies

The word of God is liken unto our armor (see “The Whole Armor of God”)

This armor is the most powerful weapon that we have because it protects us and it enables us to overcome the forces of Satan

Waging a War Against Satan


We have to choose God over the desires of this flesh

Satan is constantly fighting against us; therefore, we have to resist him at every moment

This may seem impossible but if we apply the holy word to our lives and depend upon the strength of God nothing is impossible

God is greater than anything that Satan can do

We Have to Choose


Christ has already overcome the world and defeated sin and death

Satan was kicked out of heaven at Christ’s first coming (Luke 10: 17-20)

Satan cannot take God’s children out of his hand (Romans 8: 34-39)

In the end Satan and death will be destroyed, his children will be destroyed and we will be saved (Matthew 25: 41)

Christ has the Victory
