Obad 1:3 “The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, . . .”

Because of the pride in his heart, Satan had deceived himself and now he went about Heaven and then later in the earth, deceiving others about the character of God.

The Issues Described

In Genesis 3:1-6 the exact issues Satan had against God and His government are described.

Page 8: Satans Armaments

3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

Satan’s Position: God is not truthful!

In Genesis 2:17 God stated very clearly that if man sinned, he would die. We know Eve understood this warning because when she answered the serpent’s question in Gen. 3:1-3, she answered with what God had told them about disobedience. Then Satan speaking through the serpent directly contradicted what God had said, effectively calling God a liar.

When Jesus was here on earth, in a discussion with the Pharasees He returned the accusation, saying that it is Satan, not God who is a liar and evil (a murderer). See John 8:44.

Page 18: Satans Armaments

Satan’s Position: God makes laws that are not good for us.

When Satan said, “For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof,

then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods,” Gen 3:5, he was directly inferring that God purposly or at least knowingly (“For God doth know”) makes rules or laws that restrict our advancment, or in some way are not for our good. Satan was saying in effect that God knew that if you followed His instructions you would not advance or would be unnecessarily restricted in knowledge and advancement.

Page 19: Satans Armaments

Satan’s Position: God is evil

Through the serpent, Satan stated that “and ye shall be as gods,

knowing good and evil.” Gen 3:5. He states that “gods” know “good AND evil” The only “gods” that Satan can be referring to is the God of heaven whom he does not want to recognize as the supreme God and Creator, thus the term “gods”. The word used for “knowing” is the same word used in Gen 4:1 for “know”. There the text says that Adam “knew” his wife and she bare him a son. So, when Satan says that God knows evil, he is not referring to an intelectual recognition that bad exists, but Satan is saying that God is by experience, evil.

How did Satan convince Eve?

How did Satan convince Eve?

• Satan did not reveal himself visually, only through his words. Eve only saw a beautiful serpent.

This technique is called DECEPTION!

• Rev 13:16,17 “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark,” - FEAR

Page 38: Satans Armaments

At the end of time, not only the issues will be the same as at the beginning of the controversy between Christ and Satan, but Satan’s methods of trying to get his way or of trying to get his message across will be the same as at the beginning. The Bible reveals the issues and the truth about them so if we read and study the Bible we will not be deceived. The Bible also gives the answer about fear: 1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:”
