News & Notes from Pastor Tim

DEAR FRIENDS,

THIS PROGRAM YEAR’S WORSHIP THEME IS... ...”STORIES OF GRACE.” Beginning September 9th & 10th, this theme will focus our program year on the Bible as a collection of stories of God’s grace. What does God’s grace really mean for my life and my faith? What does my faith in Jesus as my Lord and Savior really mean? What does claiming the Bible as our final authority in all matters of life and faith mean for living our daily lives, and the decisions we make? What does embracing Jesus Christ as the way, truth, and life really mean in the life I live? Is every Christ-follower called

to a ministry, and part of something bigger than ourselves? Together, we will dive into Scripture, to discover the Bible’s “Stories of Grace”...looking back to ancient biblical stories to launch them into our own lives. October 31, 2017 marks the

500th Anniversary of the Reformation being launched by Martin Luther, who rediscovered what the Bible is really all about: God’s grace. Grab your Bibles and I will see you at worship!

DID YOU KNOW THAT THE 9:00AM WORSHIP SERVICE... ...is the exact same worship service as the 10:15 AM worship service? It has been for about a year now, but I was visiting with a member recently who had no idea, so I’m guessing there are many others who don’t know. Perhaps the 9:00 AM service is a better time for you and/or an option for you each weekend to consider?

THANK YOU, “TASTE OF ALLELUIA!” VOLUNTEERS... ...for your servant-hearts! I was blown away by the over 530 worshipers at our 10:15 AM outdoor service at the “Taste of Alleluia!” event on August 20th. Many more came after worship to experience a “taste” of our faith community. THANK YOU to each and every volunteer who made this year’s event so amazing! A special thanks to Roger and Christy Russell for coordinating this year’s event. They did an amazing job.

THANK YOU FOR THE PRIVILEGE... ...of being your Senior Pastor. As we gather for Kickoff Worship on September 9th & 10th, it will mark my 6th Anniversary as your Senior Pastor, and the beginning of my 7th year with you. I am humbled, and feel truly blessed, to be doing ministry alongside of you; and for the privilege my family has of doing life with you. THANK YOU, ALLELUIA!

God Bless, Pastor Tim Housholder

NEW WORSHIP AND MUSIC DIRECTOR (continued from page 1)

Jeffrey has a BA in Vocal Music, an MM in Vocal Performance and Conducting, and is a gifted pianist. He loves church music, and feels that his calling is to bring out the best from vocalists and instrumentalists in order to praise God in their offering of music. Jeffrey and his wife, Samantha, are thrilled to become members of Alleluia! and begin serving side-by-side with us. Jeffrey begins ministry with us on Monday, August 28th. He will be at worship on September 2nd & 3rd, and be installed at all worship services on September 9th & 10th.

The search team spent five months meeting, praying, interviewing, and discerning God’s will with over twenty-five applicants. Special thanks to members Tracy Barry, Benji Derrick, Tracy Shook, Steve Miers, and Ginny Colburn for working with staff members Ryan Russell, Audio Technical Director, and Senior Pastor Tim Housholder on the team. The team was unanimous that Jeffrey is who God is calling to be our next Worship and Music Director at Alleluia! He is excited about our vision for worship, and brings an authentic passion for worship and music to our faith community.

Please keep Jeffrey and Samantha in your prayers as they transition to our faith community!

Recently, a water project funded through Alleluia! was completed at Nueva Sion near Huanuco, Peru. Nueva Sion is a Compassion Child Development Center that was launched in 2016 with help from our congregation. Alleluia! families and individuals currently sponsor over 50 kids at Nueva Sion, and over 200 total in the Huanuco area.

Nueva Sion is in an arid climate and has limited access to clean potable water. The water project now provides the children with a new bathroom facility, toilets, showers, and clean running water. They are also learning good hygiene habits at the Development Center and taking these new habits back into their homes to share with their families.

Adult Ministries News

Connect! Groups Connect Groups are a cornerstone of our Alleluia! mission, to enable all to come, connect, and commit to Jesus. One of the easiest ways to get started in a Connect Group is to do a sermon study. Just come to worship, listen to the sermon, and use your smart phone or computer to access the study questions for any given week. If you happen to miss a Sunday, that’s ok! All sermons are recorded and put on the Alleluia! website. Click HERE to go to the Alleluia! homepage. There you will see a number of links that will take you to information on various ministry areas. To listen to past sermons, click on “sermons and media.” To access sermon study questions, click on “Adults,” then “Connect!” To find out what other types of Connect Groups are available for adults, click on “Connect Groups.” Take a minute to peruse some of the other pages on the website, too. You’ll be glad you did! Here is just one of the Connect Groups that we currently have available:

Young Adults (ages 18-25) Connect Group Join a group of others in this age group every other Tuesday from 6-7pm beginning 9/19. The group will enjoy time doing a sermon study together and get to know each other in the process. Contact Jacque Witte for more info or to RSVP at [email protected].
