• Philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies.• Set up to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential.

• Satya Bharti School Program• Flagship program of Bharti Foundation.• It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with special focus on the girl child across rural India.• Goal to establish 500 Primary and 50 Senior Schools reaching out to over 200,000 students

• Present Operational Status• Number of Schools Operational:250• States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu & West Bengal • Number of Students Enrolled: Over 36,000

About the Community

Geographical Location:

• Sunderheti village is situated 32 K.M. in West from district

Jhajjar.

• Underground water level- 215 ft.Socio- Economic Background:

• Major casts are : Jat, Sharma, Valmiki, etc.

• Dominating castes : Jat

• Main source of earning is agriculture, animal husbandry,

labor in NTPC thermal plant.

• Population : 1968, Literacy Rate: 63%

We ‘Feel’:

We went the village for visit. We saw many people sitting in a group they were playing cards and smoking too. we told them that these are symtoms of T.B. Then we told to the rest of people that smoking is injurious for health and this smoking causes cancer, TB, asthma and damages lever. so people must be aware of these disease.

We ‘Imagined’

We imagine if we aware the community members about

this evil and all the harms will be financially calculated

there may be change in the life style of people.

For all this the mentor teacher planned for the following

activities:

Meeting with Panchyat members.

•Rally

•Counseling

We ‘Did’

A rally was organized with the ply card showing the harms of drinking.

Impact on Community:

•Community was very impressed to attend the meeting , they praised all the students.•15 parents took an oath not to smoke in future.

Impact on “Us”

• Students felt harms of smoking.

• Community members praised and gave the gifts to motivate

the students.

• Community was impressed to see the efforts of Satya Bharti

School’s students.

• Children decided to do awareness regularly

The Road Ahead…..(in the next 3 months)

• Regular follow up for the program.

• Slogan displaying at common places of the village.

• All the persons who took the oath will be honored on Republic Day Celebration.

• Follow up discussion will also be done in upcoming PTM.
