Sauls-Bridges American
Legion Post 13 News
DECEMBER 2014
THANKS TO ALL VETERANS AND FAMILIES FOR YOUR SACRIFICES!
CONSIDERATION---CARING---CONCERN
For the Veterans Day breakfast, there was an outpouring of volunteers desiring to help in
any manner with the event. The number far exceeded the demand to prepare the breakfast.
More than 400 veterans, family members and friends were served. The hall was beautifully
decorated, the weather was good, and all was well for the occasion.
It Has Been Good, ---
but it’s time to move on.
Carolyn Archer and I
have prepared the Post
News for years. But
it’s time to let others
share the Fun.
Really, it has been our
honor to assemble and
publish it. Other mem-
bers will assume the
task beginning with the
January issue!
---Charles LeCroy
An expression of “Thank You,” and “You are appreciated,” and
“Good Job!” are often heard, but fall short of the real value of
their contribution. These members, families and friends al-
ways ensure that Post 13 is a notable place to visit.
The following have kept Post 13 looking good for a long time:
Bob Wray and his grandson Steve, Bob James, Vic Hanna, Tom
Albert and his son Jacob, Ben Balding, Jerry Blaisdale, Ray
House, Ken Gainey, Fred Reis, Angel Alvarez, Sharon Courey,
Carol Easom, Brenda Austin, Steve Weiner, Brent Brock, Keith
Gaden, Gordon Johnson, Richard McCulley and his daughter
Angel, Juanita LeCroy, Lois Hanna, Louise Williams, Michael
Gavin, Paul Lucarelli. Don Gertersen, Muriel Kweyama, Mari-
lyn and Ward Houston, Harry Mulhearn, Donna Thornton, Ha-
zel Connell, Al McGonigal, Doug Marsh, David Frank, Richard
Duley, Jamie Boynton, Jimmy and Jewel Steele and their
daughter Kim McMath, Nell Hewitt, Bob Keller and several
others that we have overlooked.

WE NOW HAVE FREEDOM---LET’S KEEP IT--WHATEVER IT TAKES!
Our Supreme Commander,
Thank You for the wonderful Veterans Day celebra-
tions. We particularly thank Charles Le Croy for
organizing and executing the Veterans Day break-
fast, enjoyed by over 400. We thank all the Veter-
ans and Auxiliary not only for helping with the
breakfast, but also helping with the parade float.
On Sunday, December 7th at 7AM we will have a
flag ceremony memorializing the attack on Pearl
Harbor, which also occurred on a Sunday morning,
December 7, 1941, 73 years earlier. Please come
and show your respect.
Americans realized by that attack that a Satanic
military evil threatened America, and we must
give up our indifference and fight. Instead of com-
promise, we rallied with total unity, industry and
devotion to God and Country, and we secured what
we demanded---unconditional surrender. The Japa-
nese thought we would just be complacent and
agree to a surrender, but Japanese General Yama-
moto understood the American people. When he
was told of the tremendous Japanese victory at
Pearl Harbor, he only sadly said, “I fear all we have
done is awaken a sleeping giant---.”
May be we need another Satanic evil this time of a
spiritual nature to again unite us as Pearl Harbor
did, to turn us again to God and Country.
On the bombing of Pearl Harbor
America wrenched and cried.
The Japanese who attacked so well
Were cheering as we died
America will always remember
That day when time stood still,
That day was December 7th
When we realized what we must fulfill.
Election of 3rd Vice Commander
Dave Gallo was nominated for the office of
3rd Vice Commander of this Post at the
Nov. 13th General Membership meeting.
This was the only nomination. The elec-
tion for that office will be held December
1, at the GMM.
Installation will be held following the
nomination.
Changes to the Constitution &
By-Laws
The second reading of changes to the Post
Constitution & By-Laws was done at the Oct.
9th General Membership meeting. A few
changes were necessary, and a second read-
ing was done.
Changes are done in compliance with Depart-
ment and National guidelines.
----Cmdr. John Folsom

you next year!
The Post will be closed for

flag at half-mast and have prayer. We re-
spectfully ask you to attend in remembrance
of the historical event.

DONATIONS NEEDED FOR VETERANS VILLAGE
Currently, food items are in short supply at the Food Bank, so we
are asking Legion and Auxiliary members to donate nonperishable
food items and, as always, products such as toilet paper, tooth-
paste, deodorant, and cleaning supplies to Veterans Village.
Whenever we have monthly meetings and socials or at any time it
is convenient with our members, donations can be brought to the
Post. These would be picked up later by Vets Village. It has been
a while since this Post has made donations of any type to them.
According to Shawn Noles the main food items they can best use
are canned beef and chicken stews, hearty soups, beans, meats:
such as spam, tuna, chicken, jars of pasta sauce, dry noodles, spa-
ghetti, and dry soup mixes---like chili. At the present time they do
not have space for perishable or refrigerated items.
Also, if members want to start a drive through their friends--
churches--other social groups, this would be great. But before
any delivery of donations, the new resident manager of Talla-
hassee Veterans Village, Sylvester Jones, should be contacted to
coordinate the delivery. His personal phone number is 1-850-462-
7733.
