Main Line Senior Care Alliance (MLSCA)was formed in 2012 as a management company designed to oversee the operations of Saunders House and Bryn Mawr Terrace, two affiliated nursing care and rehab centers. The affiliation of the two centers enables MLSCA to serve older adults from two convenient locations. Both Saunders House and Bryn Mawr Terrace are truly resources in the community for older adults who need our care.
Saunders House has been serving older adults in the community since 1864 when it first opened its doors in West Philadelphia under the name, The Old Man’s Home of Philadelphia. Operating continuously for more than 150 years, Saunders House has provided outstanding rehabilitation services and nursing care to thousands of senior citizens. Older adults from both the city and suburbs come to Saunders House either to get stronger after a stay in the hospital or for long-term care once they can no longer live at home. To pay for their stay at Saunders House, residents use private funds, Medicare or various insurance plans. Other residents whose funds are depleted may have their stays paid for by Medicaid – a government program that is consistent with the original Saunders House charitable mission. With a commitment to excellence, Saunders House offers rehab services, skilled nursing care, specialized dementia care, programs for the visually impaired and respite care.
Bryn Mawr Terrace has a somewhat different story. Although its mission to provide healthcare services to older adults is the same, it has only been in existence since 1966 when the McClatchy family built the home to provide a premier place on the Main Line for senior citizens to live. Now in its 12th year of operation as a non-profit organization, the Terrace offers the levels of care of a larger continuing care retirement community but in a quiet, homelike setting. Situated in the heart of the Main Line with traditional accommodations, the Terrace offers excellence in rehabilitation after a stay in the hospital, skilled nursing care, respite care, independent living, memory and personal care (assistance).

We Appreciate Your Support
All gifts to Saunders House and Bryn Mawr Terrace make a difference in the lives of those we serve. Many of our programs and services are provided with little or no compensation and your support helps make them possible.
You can make an outright gift using cash, check or credit card. Ask your employer if they have a matching gift program and make your contribution go further. Include Saunders House and Bryn Mawr Terrace when you make a workplace donation to the United Way. Our codes are 8050 for Saunders House and 43048 for Bryn Mawr Terrace. We focus all our resources on the care and comfort of older adults and each year we reinvest as much money as we can in people and programs, in improvements to our facilities and in acquiring new equipment. To keep fees affordable and to continue to improve our two facilities, we seek philanthropic partners to invest in our organizations. Gifts of all kinds are needed and welcome.
Planned GivingWe are grateful to those individuals who have included Saunders House and/or Bryn Mawr Terrace in their estate plans. Distributions received from trusts as well as bequests from estates contribute to our solid financial future. Consider including us in your will. You can also designate us as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement assets. Consider a life income gift annuity or a charitable remainder trust. This type of gift will allow you to support our mission while providing you with tax savings and income for you or a loved one. Planned gifts supplement the fees paid by our residents and the reimbursements received from other sources. Given our current economic pressures and declining reimbursements, philanthropy and the role of generous individuals is essential to our future financial health.
