    INTRODUCTION

    WORKING PRINCIPLE

    PROPULSION SYSTEM

CONCEPT OF NON STOP BULLET TRAIN

    ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES

    CONCLUSION

    BULLET TRAIN MAY REFER AS:-

The shinkasen high speed of trains of Japan, sonicknamed for there speed and appearance.

The shinkasen is also named as Bullet train, is a networkof high speed railway lines in Japan operated by fourJapan Railway Group companies.Starring with the 210Km/h Tokaido Shinkasen in 1964. Test run have reached443 Km/h for conventional rail in 1996 and the world

record was made by the Manglev Train sets in 2003 of 581Km/h

Shinkasen literally means new trunk line, referring to thetracks, but the name is widely used inside and outsideJapan to refer to the trains as well as the whole system.

    TYPES OF MAGNET USED:-

This train used superconducting electric magnets in the

vehicle to levitate and propel the train. These magnets arecooled by helium or liquid nitrogen. This means that onceelectrified these magnet does not require any additionalenergy.

    PROPULSION:-

An alternative current is ran through electromagnetic coils on the guidewalls of the guide way. This creates the magnetic field .That attract and

repel the superconducting magnets on the train and propel the trainforward.

Braking is accomplished by sending an alternative current in thereverse direction so that it is slowed by attractive and repulsive forces.

    LEVITATION:-

The passing of the superconducting magnet of fig 8 levitationcoils on the side of the track induces a current in the coil and

creates a magnetic field. This pushes the train upward so thatit can levitate 10 cm above the track.

The train does not levitate until it reaches 50 mph , so it isequipped with retractable wheels.

Let us assume that there are 30 stationsbetween Two cities, just stopping andaccelerating again at each station will

    waste both energy and time.

If train takes 5 min at each station willresult a total loss of

    {5min X 30 stations = 2.5 hours}

    of journey time delay.

The passenger ata station embarkedonto a connector

cabin way beforethe train evenarrives at the

    station.

    When the train

arrives ,it will notstop at all. It just

slows down to pickup the connectorcabin which will

move with train onthe roof of thetrain.

While the train is still travelling away fromthe station, those passenger will board thetrain from the connector cabin mounted on

    the trains roof.

After fully unloading all its passengers, theconnector cabin will be moved back of the

train so that the next batch of outgoingpassengers who want to alright at the nextstation will board the connector cabin at

the rear of the train roof

  • 8/4/2019 Saurabh Seminar

    12/18

When the trains arrives at the next station,it will simply drop the whole connectorcabin at the station itself and leave it

    behind at the station.

At the same time it will pick the nextconnector cabin from the station, tooo

SAFETY1. The train are virtually impossible to derail because

the train is wrapped around the track.

    2. Collision between trains are unlikely becausecomputers are controlling the trains movement

    MAINTANENCE

    1. There is very little maintenance because there is

    no contact between the parts.

The ride is comfortable while accelerating.

Non-stop concept saves both time andenergy

Basically there is no disadvantage ascompared to its advantages.

    1. Its produces noise pollution.

    2. Sharp turns are quite not possible.

    3. As it is fully computer controlled any

    technical fault can cause accident.

It is no longer Science Friction, Bullet Trainsare the new ways of transportation in the nearfuture, just some obstacle are in the way, but

with some researches nothing is impossible .With no engine, no wheel ,no pollution newsource of energy floating on air, the concept hastaken 10 years to develop, just recently its true

capacity has been realized competing planeswith speed, boats with efficiency, trains withsafety.
