Mr Beaton’s Principal Report - 2nd March, 2018
TRAFFIC SAFETY
We ask that families please follow a few basic rules to keep our students safe during
busy drop off and pick up times:
Remember that our school is in a 40km per hour zone.
DO NOT drive into the school grounds. The car park is for staff only and the
delivery bays are only for parcel deliveries, not for dropping off and picking up stu-
dents.
Do not park too close to the school crossings.
SWIMMING PROGRAM AT AQUAMOVES
Swimming lessons for all students start this Monday, 5th March and are on every day
until Friday 9th March. All sessions run for 45min per day. It is expected that all stu-
dents participate as learning to swim is one of the most important life skills to learn.
Lunch orders and icy poles will not be available during this week.
SCHOOL COUNCIL
Nominations for School Council closed today and we will finalise the committee in the
next few days and notify parents. Our AGM is on Monday, 19th March at 5pm in the
school staffroom.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
We are running our Parent Teacher Interviews during the last week of school on Mon-
day, 26th March to Wednesday 28th March. Information will be sent home shortly for
parents to book a time that best suits them. Interviews run for approximately 10 minutes
and start at 3:30pm and conclude at 5pm.
FIRST AID TRAINING
On Tuesday all of our students spent time with St Johns Ambulance staff who taught
our students about general first aid including CPR and ringing 000 in an emergency. All
students really enjoyed the session and we look forward to it again in 2019.
RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP
Today our students learnt about the importance of being a responsible pet owner. The
session run by Diana and her pet dog Basil informed our students about nutrition, han-
dling pets and generally caring for animals in our care and in the community.
PREP STUDENTS
March is an exciting time for Prep students. Now that February has finished Prep stu-
dents are attending school every day. Thanks to the parents who have been busy drop-
ping students off for testing with Mrs Mahoney.

Could you be a permanent care parent?
There are a number of children supported by the Department of Health & Human Services who require a family for life as they are unable to live with their birth families. We are seeking committed and motivated people who would be interested in learning more about providing a permanent family for a child.
Assistance payments are made to the Permanent Care family to assist with the day to day expenses of caring for a child/young person. Assistance payments are considered to be a reimbursement for expenses and not an earned income.
We are also keen to speak with families who are particularly interested in caring for children aged between 5 and 10 years.
Information sessions are being held on:
Tuesday 20th March 2018 at 6:00pm
Department of Health & Human Services 43-47 Rowan Street, Wangaratta
Wednesday 21st March 2018 at 6:00pm
Department of Health & Human Services 163-167 Welsford Street, Shepparton
Bookings not essential. For further information please contact: Adoption & Permanent Care Program (: 5832 1552
Hello families, I hope you have been able to relax together in the great outdoors as these lovely Summer eve-nings have been inviting us all to do. I have seen many kids out and about on bikes, at sports’ events and swimming, and enjoying our great parks, playgrounds, lakes and reserves. There is so much to see and do right here in Mooroopna! Perhaps a family bbq in the park or at Kidstown is a possibility this weekend? Keep inspiring our young people to be creative in ways that come naturally and don’t require technology. This info-graphic is from the Office of the eSafety Commissioner, and their website esafety.gov.au is worth a look. Happy colourful days of Autumn ahead - see you around, Ros
