From Hadassah Dear Members and Friends of Hadassah,
A s predicted, we are having a cold winter, I think it happens every time after a hurricane. We are doing fine in our heated homes unlike those less fortunate. In January Diane Toto, the Food Pantry president, enlightened us as to the great need to help our neighbors some who are homeless for no fault of their
own. Many have dependency or mental issues and often fear losing their children. Diane and her organization "We Care Food Pantry” in Homosassa has a huge warehouse and a refrigerated truck. When she hears of a large load of available food, canned or refrigerated, she sends the truck to get it often for a very low price. The supermarkets also supply her with out of date good food. Diane Toto is an energetic tough New Yorker and she has many volunteers who help distribute food and even warm blankets. In the summer she makes sure that children get a meal when school is out. There is a great need to help people in Citrus County. Diane prefers money or checks because she can purchase a large amount of food that way.
Just like the food pantry, Hadassah is an organization that depends on volunteers. The research that is con-ducted in Hadassah cured some terrible diseases and research for Parkinson, Alzheimer, cancer will eventually be found if we help fund the work. That’s why a few Members of Hadassah Beverly Hills work so hard to have a successful yearly Card and Game Lunch Party. For a donation of $12 with all the proceeds going to Hadassah (some of our members donated money for the food) you can spend a lovely afternoon playing cards, dominoes, Mah Jong, scrabble or any game you prefer, have a nice lunch and even win a raffle prize. You can also buy Israeli jewelry and know you contributed to a worthy cause. The Hadassah Luncheon is on THURS-DAY,FEBRUARY 22, 2018 at 12 noon, at Jewish Community Center Kellner auditorium. Our next meeting is on Monday, February 12 at 1pm. On the Monday, March 12, 2018 we will have a speaker. We would love to see more members participating in our meetings.
