As you can see the poster is kept consistent throughout. This is because people are then able to notice that the poster is from the film saw from the colours, the pictures but also how the title saw is wrote on every single poster. They have done this so people can easily spot where the poster has come from and also which movie is shortly going to be coming out. The title on every poster is either at the top or the bottom. This is because it can be easily seen by the audiences eye. The picture takes up most of the poster so that the gruesome picture draws the eye to the picture. Most of the picture are in the middle of the page so that it creates a border around the picture but also because the audience will be able to see it easily on the wall or in a shop. I think that they have chosen this colour because it represents blandness but also it could represent death as your face goes very pale when you die. The colour throughout all 6 posters stay the same as there is a white/cream background that is featured on every poster but the title is either dark red or black and there is little vibrant colour on the posters. This might be because they wanted to show that no one has fun in this movie and there is a lot of death and violence which isn’t a happy site. This means that the colours represent sadness, emptiness and death. All the posters are also linked closely by the pictures that are used as they all portray torture which represents the genre of the film; horror. With the posters linking together nicely by the font, colours , font size and picture it shows the audience that there is a series of films. I really like how the poster only has one main image which I find very effective and therefore will be trying to portray this in my own poster.

DVD coversDVD covers

The DVD covers act in the same way that the poster does but just after the film has been released. As you can see throughout the DVD covers the same font and colour for the title has been used. This also creates consistently the same as the poster did. This gives the movie a recognisable title which viewers will be able to recognise easily. Again on all of the DVD covers you can see a part of a limb that has been tortured or someone being tortured in many different ways. This portrays the genre and the danger of the film same as the posters. These pictures give an impression that there is no escaping in this film as there is a lot of death and violence. The layout of the DVD covers are very similar as the age certificate is always at the bottom left or right and they are all the same age showing that there is a lot of violence and blood in the movie. As you can see the special edition movies which are circled are in a different colour then the other DVD covers. This shows that there is a difference in the DVD but also lets the audience know this because the normal DVD covers are always black. The colour of the title “Saw” is the same on every DVD cover. This shows the continuity throughout them.

This is a collection of just some of the merchandise that saw has to offer for there target market. This is a good range of products as it suits everybody’s needs as there is costumes, models and a Xbox game. This shows that they must have a large target market as they have a wide range of products. They have released a game because they know that the game market is very popular so they thought that they would get the most profit from this. As you can see the face is the most popular well know characteristic in the movie and that is why it is used a lot and it is on front of the Xbox game because it is well known everywhere even if people haven’t see the movie. All these products have been release to expand the profit and make the earnings greater.

This is a screen shot of the official saw website. As you can see there is the same colour theme to show the danger and darkness of the movies. The 6 chances hints to the viewers and the target market that there is 6 different movies in the series. Also the title is the same on everything which shows consistency throughout all the products that have been made. This means that the target audience will be able to recognise the website easily as it stands out.
