A. LF / TC gave an update for the canteen (refer to attached report for details): introducing a new menu for 3rd term - a further

shift from ‘red’ to ‘green’ foods; trialling different foods

Volunteers have been ok - idea of free ice cups and Beth’s babysitting have really helped but still need regular people. It was noted we need to be careful about allowing children into canteen in regard to safety issues

Things we need to work on: o light in the canteen needs replacing o excessively hot temp of hot water tap o bathroom is not very clean o can we get the bug catcher put up o Can Laura use P&C facebook site for canteen

6.2 Language classes – feasibility of getting other schools attending to help viability of program MC indicated there would be no problem continuing the classes at Sawtell PS with other schools attending

6.3 It was suggested that parent information sessions could be linked in with kids events such as Movie Night or Disco to make it easier for parents to attend without need for babysitter

27/06/2016 Canteen Co-ordinator report Canteen Report. The accounts are as follows, we started this month with $3161.28 Money in $2585.00 Money out ($2789.36) Closing balance as of June 27 $2956.92 Groceries as of June 21 $742.88 Laura is settling in well. She doesn’t panic in an emergency which is great and has been trying a lot of different products to see what sells etc. We have moved to completely wholemeal breads and have hand-made with nearly all our products. We are introducing a sticker system which encourages the kids to choose health options at the canteen. She has managed to increase the amount in the bank which is great but we are about to pay tax and super which always reduces it again. Also there is a pay increase of 2.4% on the 1st of July. We are introducing a back-up person for Laura. I have asked Melissa Westman to do it, which she has agreed to. When Laura needs a sick day or something, Mel will work and be paid the same rate as Laura. We are introducing ice cup moulds. So the kids will just get an icey pole on a stick, No cup – no rubbish. We are also introducing a new menu for 3rd term. This will include wintery stuff like a soup of the day and cooked drumsticks with roast Veg. We are talking about taking sushi off the menu until summer. Things to look at garlic bread, hotdogs, marshmellows. Volunteers have been ok. Laura creates a welcoming environment and the idea of free ice cups and Beth’s babysitting have really helped. We still need regular people. Things we need to work on: -One of the lights in the canteen needs replacing. Do we buy this and can we get Mark to install it or can we also ask Mark to buy it then pay him back?? - The bathroom that Laura uses is not very clean. Is anyone responsible for cleaning it? - Can we get the bug catcher put up? - Can Laura have access to the p and c facebook site to unload canteen stuff? At the moment Laura is using cash from the canteen to go grocery shopping. I would like to set up a debt Visa card and will be looking into this, so we don’t play with cash and we have a better record of these amounts. Athletics carnival – Red day, note home, please help. Nic Browne – Can we do more to promote and help her. Tanya
