The past twelve months has shown, in stark relief, this government’s attitude to equality.

Current government policy has failed every test of a civilised society. From the Personal Independence Payment process failing many disabled people and Universal Credit leaving the most vulnerable in our society worse off. To the despicable treatment of our Windrush generation from a racist policy engineered by our Prime Minister during her time as Home Secretary, and of course, the Grenfell Tower disaster where many lives were lost unnecessarily, simply because the residents were working class. It is against this backdrop that President Trump, the most divisive, racist, sexist and bigoted president in recent history plans to visit the UK on the 13 July. Young people have always been at the forefront of championing equality and opposing discrimination. We will not be silent in the face of Trump’s visit or divisive government policies.

Join the London, Eastern and South East TUC Young Workers Network on Friday 6 July 2018 at the Southbank Centre from 5:30 – 7:30 pm

• to help build young trade unionists opposition to Trump’s visit which will include a banner making session.

• to hear from Zita Holbourne: Black Activists Rising Against the Cuts Co-Founder.

This event is open to all young trade union members working in the TUC London, Eastern and South East region.
