Maths Circles for 5th & 6th Classes Maths Circles Ireland focuses on improving the level
of mathematical ability in students throughout their
secondary school career. One of the main aims of the
Junior Maths Circles initiative is to encourage
students to actively participate in mathematics and to
show them that mathematics exists outside of the
textbook and the classroom and that it can be fun and
enjoyable! We have been chosen as a pilot school and
our 5th and 6th classes are currently engaged in some
activity based mathematical games and challenges, for
example Sets, Tangrams, Sequences, Hamiltonian
Circuits and Paths, Tessellations and Tetris, thereby
hoping to increase their appreciation of the subject
and helping to remove preconceived negative
connotations towards mathematics.
Batman Batman flew high.
Up to the sky.
He saw the Joker. And poked him with a poker.
Green Lantern came and made a fist.
And threw the Joker in the mist.
Two Face came from Spain. He decided to inflict some pain.
His body guards went Boom! Boom! Boom!
Batman though he was heading for Dr. Doom.
When suddenly from out of the mist appeared the
face of Dr. Doom
Dr. Doom went Boom! Boom! Boom!

Lost and Found
There are numerous items of clothing in our Lost & Found corner at the moment. If
you think you are missing any tracksuit tops, bottoms, jumpers, coats, hats, etc.,
please come in and have a look as all remaining items will be disposed of during
the summer holidays. Again can we please ask that you label all items of clothing
especially with fine weather on the way (hopefully!) as children will be taking off
jumpers etc. and as you can imagine it’s often impossible to match them with their
owner!
