1 Description 1.1 General The universal door control type TSm-01.3 includes the following functions: Variable speed control Positioning of the door Integrated photocell transmitter and receiver. Safe processing of signals of a Forward Edge Safety Mechanism Integrated hum eliminator. Door control mechanism and safety sensor form a Forward Edge Safety Mechanism, which meets the requirement class 3 according to DIN V 19250 and Category 2 to EN 954-1. Door control System TSm-01.3 requires the following parts to operate a door: 3 phase AC-motor Controls and safety sensor 2-channel pulse generator 1.2 Monitoring principle Door control system TS-01.3 in combination with 2-channel pulse generator, forms a closed loop. The processor compares the true motor cycle with a virtual cycle produced by the software. Faulty rev. counts, motor blocking or failure of the pulse generator are recognized. Before each closing, the function of the safety sensor is tested. 1.3 Set-up by menus Matching the control unit to its respective function takes place via a menu listing (Section 0 Menu Setting). The manufacture restricts witch menus the customer may change by a code set up. Trained personnel must carry out Installing and maintenance of the door. 1.4 Safety signal from safety edge Only use safety sensors, which comply with the regulations according to GS-BE-17 or prEN 12978. The function and condition of the safety edge must be checked at least one time every 6-month. This instruction should be kept in the service manual.

Menu: B: Boost Increase start torque Increase of motor voltage to increase the torque. Example: Value 20 at 0 Hz the output voltage already equals 20% mains voltage. Boost declines with increasing frequency and finishes at the frequency-corner point. With the help of these two menus the force in automatic operation is set. It should be set so that on the one hand the door may be safely opened and closed. On the other hand, however, the slip monitor reacts in case of inadmissible force. As shown in the diagram, menu A influences the voltage substantially in the maximum frequency range, while menu B only comes into effect during acceleration and braking. Recommended values for menu B:

The boost would be reduced if the current gets too high or if the slip measuring indicates that its not needed.

SCDmini 550 SCDmini 1500 15 10

Menu: C: Motor nominal speed (rated) Normally the motor nominal speed should be set to 50 Hz (see Motor type plate). If fault E01 occurs during normal running, the value should be lowered. Menu: D: Pulse number of the pulse generator If the pulse generator is mounted on the motor, the pulse count of the generator should be specified. If the pulse generator is mounted on the transmission drive shaft, the gear reduction should be taken into account. Example Generator pulse count Gear reduction Pulse count to be input 100 16.5 100 / 16.5 = 6,06

Control: Count steps per motor revolution / 4 = pulse number Menu: E: Position tolerance Permissible deviations from the nominal position of count steps. On reaching the position tolerance, the motor is turned off and the relay K3 door open or K4 door closed activated. Motor voltage is removed. Menu: F: Relay tolerance Maximum deviations from the nominal position of count step. Within relay tolerance, relays K3 and K4 remain activated. Example:menu 4*: 3.000 / menu E: 5 / menu F: 20 On reaching position 2.995 relay K4 is activated, below position 2.980 it is deactivated. Menu: G: Stop deceleration On operating the STOP-button or if the photo sensor is triggered, the fast stop becomes effective. The door is quickly brought to a stop without excessive stress to the mechanism.

Menu: A: Voltage / Frequency relation Example: Value 50 Hz the voltage is increased in the region of 0 50 Hz from 0 to max. Control voltage. Max. Control voltage equals mains voltage. The motor torque would decrease when voltage cant increase any more (over 50Hz)

ref. point. 7 Mechanical end stop in the top of the door. Only used under power on. The door would open with

reduced speed and try to find the mechanical blocking of the door (Torque measuring) and set the reference position.

8 Feik encoder See previous page for connecting absolute encoder. 9 Mfz encoder See previous page for connecting absolute encoder. 10 As no 7 but with reference point in the closed position. 11 As 10 but for firedoors with magnet at open (Ref en open also) Reference position is only read under door opening to avoid hysteresis in the switch. If the opening speed of the door is high its recommended to place the ref. switch near closed position. Menu: 9**: Photocell deactivation Underneath this position the photo sensor deactivated when closing the door. This makes it possible to mount the photo sensor in the middle of the door, without any interference when closing.

Menu: A**: Automatic self heating (option) Control components, mounted in freezer rooms, must be heated for safety reasons, so that the approved surrounding temperature for electronic components can be maintained. Heating is done by using a resistor, mounted inside of the control unit (Control units are marked with BR). When temperature is below 5 degrees it is started to heat up. When heating is on the display shows a green -. The current is calculated from the value of internal NTC-value, which is shown by menu 0** = 8 in the display (see table). The % of time where the resistor is heated is controlled by parameter A**. This parameter control the max % of cycle time where the resistor is powered. E.g. if A** = 5 the resistor will be powered 1 sec for each 20 sec.

Menu: B** Torque limit (Used for fast running Doors) If its possible for a person to go up with the door, must the door according to EN 12445 section 4.1:2 stop before a person gets stuck in the top of the door. At public places must an extra weight of more than 20 kg be possible to register (40 kg at non public places). With menu B** is it possible to adjust the limit so the demands can be met. Function: The torque is measured at every opening of the door and compared with the user value. The displays show E12 if the measured value is higher than the limit. Setting: Set menu 0** = 9. (Display shows torque after every door opening). If it is possible to put an extras load of 40kg, try to open the door and read the new value. Use the middle value for menu B**. Note: This function does not work with personal opening height. Menu: C** No cycles before service indication Relay function no. 13 is activated when no. of open/close cycles exceeds this value. Menu: D** Slow opening If there is danger when the doors reaches the open position is it possible to use this function to get the door to move slowly. When the set up position is reached is the open speed changed to menu 3.

2.6 Starting up the door

2.6.1 Code To allow the user to change the setting of the door control is it necessary to set up an access code: Set up the code in menu J by using the ▲ and ▼button. Then push STEP/STORE button. When code has been set up, choose the type of operation in menu J (1-4). If the correct code was used is it now possible to change all menu values. After set up is the menus locked by pressing the ▲and▼ until the control resets. (Or remove power supply). Set up menu 6** and 7** to the right function before using the door. Note that display shows E13 if the code isnt set up before installing. 2.6.2 Manuel operation / menu J=1 This mode is selected when the controller is used for the first time. The door can only be moved manually with the ▲ and ▼buttons. The door will move with low speed (TIP frequency menu G*). First the motor rotation direction and count direction of the pulse generator must be checked as follows:

1. Door is closed manually without use of the door control. 2. STEP/STORE-button is pushed until the green segment turns off. While STEP/STORE button is

pushed down, press ▲- button to make the door go up carefully (Open direction). Depending on motor and pulse generator connection happens one of following things: A: Door opens and counter, counts up (Positive values). Motor and pulse generator connected correct. Go on to no. 4 B: Door closes and display shows E02. Motor connected not correct. Change the value of menu 2**. C: Door opens and display shows E02. Pulse generator connection not correct. Switch the A/B signal at X6 and X7. D: Door closes and display show a positive value. Both motor and pulse generator is connected wrong. Change connection as in B and C.

3. After changing connection please check if connection are correct again. 4. Open and close the door completely to ensure that there are no mechanical problems.

Control the function of the reference switch by using drawing below. The green segment must only change one time when opening and closing the door. This way its secured that the door always the correct way when running reference run.

Upper green segment = Door over reference point

Lower green segment = Door below reference point

Adjusting photocell: To adjust the photocell set menu 0** = 10. Then the display shows the analogue value for the receiver signal. Now adjust the transmitter and receiver to the highest possible value. Note that it is only possible to do this setting in manual mode J=1. The photocell transmitter is turned off in automatic mode (J=3 and J=4) when it is not used. This is done to extend the lifetime of the transmitter diode.

2.6.3 Install / Service / menu J=2 Place the door in middle position. Set menu J = 2 and press STEP/STORE-button. Start reference run by pressing STEP/STORE-button and holding it down while pressing ▲ or ▼ shortly (Door would only move as long as you press the STEP/STORE-button). The door would go in the expected direction of the reference point. The display would show E04 if the door tries to move in the wrong direction and the door would stop. The door stops when it reaches the reference switch. The control automatically jumps to menu 0* when the reference run has ended, (See menu guide Setting up door positions). Setting up door positions: (Display show actual position) First close the door (Closed position) by using the ▼button. Adjust position using ▲ or ▼ button. Store position by pressing the STEP/STORE-button (P0). Then press STEP/STORE to go to menu 1* and move the door up max. 60 mm. and press STEP/STORE to save position (P1). The safety edge function is disabled between position P0 and P1. Set up the rest of the positions following the same procedure. (Speed change under closing P2, Personal height P3 and door fully open P4). Positions are stored in non-volatile memory. To end install/service mode set menu J = 3 or 4. Door would now change to automatic mode. Try to use the door by normal operation. See next page for installation flowchart:

3 Automatic mode 3.1 Automatic mode with safety edge monitoring (menu J = 3) There are preformed a check of the function by each door cycle (Open/Close) when using safety edge type DW and air safety edges with NC switch. The control expects a signal from the safety edge between P1 and P0 when closing the door (Short pulse is sufficient). The door stops and display show E08 if no signal is received. The cables to the safety edges are supervised continuous for faults. Display shows E09 if any faults. 3.2 Automatic mode with safety edge monitoring before each start (menu J = 4) Before every start of the door is the safety inputs tested by an internal safety check that simulates an activation of the edge. The processor must receive this else does the display show E08. This mode of operation must not be used for safety edges that not are approved for this method. E.g. Air edges. Note: Between position P0 and P1 are the safety function disabled (No reversing when edge activated). 3.3 Reference run After power-off does the door start with a reference run towards the reference point. This is done with reduced speed (Manual speed menu G*). Direction of the door depends of the door position. Only command in the direction of the reference point is accepted. When the door reaches the reference point in open direction it switches to automatic mode. 3.4 Automatic closing Timer 1 is used to set up the automatic closing timer. The timer starts when door is opened. The door closes when timer runs out. Automatic closing is disabled if timer is set to 0. Timer 2 can be used for e.g. pre-warning light together with a relay. If a MIG encoder is used is it possible to de-activate the automatic close timer with a +24V signal at terminal 8.

4 Door control with limit switches (No pulse generator) To use the door control without signal from pulse generator must menu 8** be set to 5. The door control will apparently work in the same way as with encoder feedback, but the positioning accuracy and the safety level will be decreased. The display will still show the position of the door (when menu 0** = 0), but it will be a virtual position calculated on basis of the zero switch (S2), motor speed and time. Note: All 4 contacts are NC (normally closed) If all 4 positioning switches are connected the function will be like this: Switch: Input X: S1 6 S2* 8 S3 9 S4* 7 (*Must be mounted) It is also possible to use only some of the switches depending on the type of the door. Reference switch: S2 works as the reference switch (NC input terminal X8). It is used to set the 0 position in the same way when using MIG encoder. The position of the door would be calculated from the motor frequency and the door positioning works in the same way as using an encoder. Though, during every closing cycle the calculated position will be synchronised to the S2 activation, and the control will always start decelerate towards minimum frequency (menu G*) when S2 is activated, independent of the menu settings. The position of S2 should be made so close to the closed positioning as possible but with enough distance to allow a full deceleration ramp.

V 0.25 UK -20-

Opening: To ensure that the door opens fully mount S4 (NC, input terminal 7) The controller sees the door as fully open when S4 is activated. (Position = P4) and the door is stopped with fast deceleration (menu G). The open precision would be more exact if S3 and S4 are used because the door would move against the open position with low speed. If the door is blocked while closing and the safety edge isnt activated would the calculated position be wrong. Then if a new open command is executed before S2 is activated will the fault not be recognised and the door would try to open against a position that is higher than the actual open position. This can be avoided by using S3. Then the speed would be reduced to TIP frequency when its activated. Precise closing: If its necessary with a more precise closing, mount switch S1 (Terminal 6). When the switch is activated under closing is the door consider for closed and the internal position is set to the menu value for the position door closed. Therefore always set this menu (menu 0*) lower than the actual closed position otherwise the door might not be closed fully. The deceleration when activating S1 will be set by menu G. Manually setting of position menus: It is possible to set the position P0 and P3 manually when all 4 switches are used. They must always be set higher than the physical limits this will prevent that the door stops before it reaches the switch. Safety level: The safety level will be lower when using limit switches instead of an encoder. But it is still acceptable if it is supplied with the necessary safety edges. The error codes for encoder and motor slip are removed: (E01, E02 and E03). Comparing the zero switch during closing is no longer possible so E06 is only showed if S1 or S2 is activated at the same time as S3 or S4. E07 has only relevance if S1 or S4 is used.

7 Door positions

Reference switch: To determine position of the door after a power off, a reference run is needed. The reference signal must be active all the time from the switch is activated to the door is closed, to ensure correct function after power off. If reference switch is mounted in bottom of the door, must it be a NC switch. If mounted in the top of the door it must be a NO switch. Note: It is recommended to place the reference switch close to the Door closed position. This is done to get the shortest possible reference run after power on (When door is closed). The door is fully functional after reference run. At reference run is the position counter set to 0 when the reference switch is activated. Display shows a negative position below reference point (Scrolling display with a - sign).
