THE CHIMES
JUNE 2017
Join us this Sunday, June 4, for a
PENTECOST
CELEBRATION
In Worship we will remember the gift of the Holy Spirit to the church;
pray that the Spirit be poured out
upon our elders and deacons as they are installed; honor the varieties of gifts the Spirit gives for the
common good; unite around the Lord’s Table, to offer our thanksgiving.
Following Worship, a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall
to continue the celebration!
Now there are a variety of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are
varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To
each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

MISSION
The Chimes
From Elaine Hipps, Executive Director at Operation Give Back:
“I would like to personally thank your
congregation for the wonderful gift
from the Fish Fry! What a delightful
treat it was to enjoy the fish dinner
and the conversation with so many
people.
The donation, along with your
church’s continued support of OGB,
will make a great difference in the
lives of the children and families we
serve. The funds will be used to as-
sist with out after school tutoring
and summer enrichment programs.
There are an estimated 1,000 chil-
dren living in poverty in the Syca-
more School District. However, the
support of donors like your church
is helping us to make it possible for
these children to lead healthier and
happier lives.”
********************************** Aside from the Fish Fry donation, MPC has partnered with OGB to serve their children in many ways. This year, 40% of donations collected as part of the Pentecost Special Offer- ing will go to OGB. Likewise, they are the recipients of our mission drive collection in late summer, when we collect back-to-school supplies. Ad- ditionally, Beth Doebereiner, Jennifer Mathis, and Karen Simpson have served as weekly after school tutors for this past school year. If you would like to become a part of the tutoring program, please see Beth, Jennifer or Karen, or contact OGB at 513-489-2023 or [email protected].
Mission Collection for June
For the month of June we will collect food — espe-cially cereal! — for One Way Farm. Please leave do-nations in the Gathering Room. Thank you.
