I was reading our daily Scripture from our “Bible Reading Plan” that we have. (You can get a copy at the church or it’s also on our website). Today’s reading was Luke 5 and Psalm 18. By the way, how’s your Bible reading going? Have you gotten behind? Not started? Need a kick-start? Anyway, wherever you are, I hope that you are being intentional about reading Scripture daily. It is one of the best ways for you to grow in your relationship with God. I’m always amazed at the insights I get from a particular scripture. In fact, I’m keeping a journal this year of scriptures that have spoken to me from my daily reading. Let me share some of the scriptures that have spoken to me so far this year. “The shepherd kings have lost their senses and don’t seek answers from the Lord. That is why they have failed and their flock is scattered.” Jeremiah 10:21 (Reminds me that as leaders, we must constantly be seeking answers from God!) “Whom would you like me to release to you, Jesus Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Christ?” Matthew 27:17b (How often we seek the fake, the counterfeit, the one that doesn’t save, instead of the savior. Which Jesus will we seek?) “Don’t be afraid; just keep trusting.” Jesus, Mark 5:36 Anyway, back to our reading for today. Specifically Psalm 18. I call it the “West Texas” Psalm. It’s really a psalm of David, but being from the Panhandle of Texas I claim it as ours. “He brought me out to wide-open spaces; he pulled me out safe because he is pleased with me.” Psalm 18:19 I love the imagery “wide-open spaces.” I know that most of you reading this can relate. There’s nothing like driving through the wide-open spaces of the panhandle. It brings me such peace. It reminds me of how small I really am and how big God is. This Psalm of David was written after God had delivered him from his enemies and from King Saul, who sought to kill him. This was one of those times when God’s mighty hand had delivered in a spectacular fashion. But I wonder…how many times has God delivered us and we aren’t even aware. How many times has God diverted us from danger and we pass by like nothing happened. So I would encourage you to praise God today, whatever circumstance you find yourself in. Whether you’re still running away from your “Saul” or have been delivered. And remember, “My God is my rock – I take refuge in him! he’s my shield, my salvation’s strength, my place of safety.” Psalm 18:2b In Christ, Rick Enns CONCERNS FOR THIS MONTH HEALTH CONCERNS: Becca Hill, Tatum Schulte, Stephanie Parks, Clois Rowland, Jackie Patterson, Sean Smith, Billy Davis, Rachel Stockstill, Kyla Matthews, Julie Soloman, Larry Anthony, Phil Graybeal, Gene Johnson, Lisa Miller, Virginia Mussman, Michelle Moore, Keri Thompson, Angela Asbill, Lynda Shroyer, JD Cook IN CHRISTIAN SYMPATHY: Christi Ybarra’s mother Georgia Pena passed away 1/26/16, Lezlie Cooper’s step-mother Rosella Cooper OTHER JOYS/CONCERNS: SSG Ozborn & wife, Gerber family on selling house, Daddy Daughter Dinner Dance was awesome, Stuart’s last Sunday, Tatum Schulte scans were clear BIRTHDAYS: Kyle Dudley 1/30, Wendy Curry 1/31, Chris Cornelius 2/5, Danny Cornelius 2/6, Calan Tudyk 2/4, Sydney Barton 2/7, Kory Holloway 2/8, James Hartman 2/11, Ian Woodroof 2/21 ANNIVERSARY: David & Penny Carr 2/3 ONGOING PRAYER CONCERNS: Dylan Brown, Shelly Gross, Dick Elliott, Glenda Abernethy, Lou Ann Barnhart, Betty Hill, Dorothy Cook, Glen Miller, Carolyn Mason, Beth Sanchez, Judy Gilliam, Tata McCartney, Kimberly Conrad, Kathy Noel, Keith & Dorinda McCormack, Anna Overhulser, C.W. I was reading our daily Scripture from our “Bible Reading

Plan” that we have. (You can get a copy at the church or

it’s also on our website). Today’s reading was Luke 5

and Psalm 18. By the way, how’s your Bible reading

going? Have you gotten behind? Not started? Need a

kick-start? Anyway, wherever you are, I hope that you

are being intentional about reading Scripture daily. It is

one of the best ways for you to grow in your relationship with God. I’m

always amazed at the insights I get from a particular scripture. In fact, I’m

keeping a journal this year of scriptures that have spoken to me from my

daily reading.

Let me share some of the scriptures that have spoken to me so far this

year.

“The shepherd kings have lost their senses and don’t seek answers

from the Lord. That is why they have failed and their flock is

scattered.” – Jeremiah 10:21 (Reminds me that as leaders, we must

constantly be seeking answers from God!)

“Whom would you like me to release to you, Jesus Barabbas or

Jesus who is called the Christ?” – Matthew 27:17b (How often we seek

the fake, the counterfeit, the one that doesn’t save, instead of the savior.

Which Jesus will we seek?)

“Don’t be afraid; just keep trusting.” – Jesus, Mark 5:36

Anyway, back to our reading for today. Specifically Psalm 18. I call it the

“West Texas” Psalm. It’s really a psalm of David, but being from the

Panhandle of Texas I claim it as ours.

“He brought me out to wide-open spaces; he pulled me out safe

because he is pleased with me.” – Psalm 18:19

I love the imagery – “wide-open spaces.” I know that most of you reading

this can relate. There’s nothing like driving through the wide-open spaces

of the panhandle. It brings me such peace. It reminds me of how small I

really am and how big God is.

This Psalm of David was written after God had delivered him from his

enemies and from King Saul, who sought to kill him. This was one of those

times when God’s mighty hand had delivered in a spectacular fashion. But

I wonder…how many times has God delivered us and we aren’t even

aware. How many times has God diverted us from danger and we pass by

like nothing happened.

So I would encourage you to praise God today, whatever circumstance

you find yourself in. Whether you’re still running away from your “Saul” or

have been delivered. And remember, “My God is my rock – I take

refuge in him! – he’s my shield, my salvation’s strength, my place of

safety.” – Psalm 18:2b

The ‘In His Hands’ preschool Trike-a-Thon raised $6,104 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In eleven years of sponsoring this event, ‘In His Hands’ preschool has raised over $40,000. Thank you to all who helped with this fantastic achieve-ment! The event was designed to promote bicycle safety and raise money for childhood cancer research. The Trike-a-Thon was held on Feb. 2nd and 3rd . A special thank you to McDonald’s of Canyon for donating paper goods, and to Canyon News for their ad and support of our event.
