How to Apply
- Personal Information: the information provided would only be usedfor internal purposes, only by the Fulbright Commission and the Council for
International Exchange of Scholars - CIES:
• F a m i l y N a m e / S u r n a m e F i r s t M i d d l e : it is very important that you
list your name exactly as it appears (or will appear) on your passport.Do not omit/neglect any of your names. Do not use diacriticalmarkings;
• In the box S p e c i a l A w a r d N a m e , please indicate the Program that
you’re applying;
- Please, indicate the grant period, in accordance with your Letter of
Invitation or the Institute’s calendar.

- List all referees who will submit a letter of reference for you. Although youare listing them here, you must register the same referees at a later stage of yourapplication (Menu 4 > References).
- Provide information and attach your letter of invitation in the documentupload section later in the application, available on Page 7 .
- If you’re applying for any Fulbright Chair Program, there’s no need tomake arrangements for affiliation.
- Address: it is very important that a mailing company can reach theinformed address, so please use your address as stated in all your
correspondence. e.g.: Rua Getulio Vargas, and not Getulio Vargas Street;

- Project statement: this is an essential and highly important part of your
application. Scholars with the most compelling, theoretically sound, well-written,feasible proposals are generally recommended for awards.
- The CV describes academic credentials and demonstrates a record ofscholarly achievements (document should not exceed six pages).
- Letters of invitation should be typed on institutional letterhead and signed.The letter should also contain the proposed academic year.
- If you’re applying for any Fulbright Chair Program, there’s no need to makearrangements for affiliation.
- For lecturing proposals, provide up to 10 pages of sample syllabi for
courses you propose to teach or have taught.
- English language proficiency results and/or TOEFL Scores are not required.

- Personal Financial Information: not applicable; it might be requestedonly at the time of implementing your grant if dependents are accompanying thescholar;
- If you, or your accompanying dependents, have previously entered theUnited States on a J-1 or J-2 visa, please provide copies of previously issued DS-2019(s) and visas.

5. Before you can submit your online application electronically, your application
will be reviewed for completeness. If there is missing information, you will be prompted
to correct by the Application Inspector.
6. After completing your online application and thoroughly reviewing it, you can
submit it electronically to the Fulbright Commission. Please note that after submittingyour application you will be able to access and print it, as well as the supplemental
forms and documents, but you will not be able to make any changes to your application.
