Ans: - The lithosphere is the layer of rock or land, forming the crust of the earth.

Ans: - The plains are known by different names. In North America, the plains are called Prairies. The

Russian plains are called Steppes. The cold Siberian plains are called Tundra. The South American plains

are called Pampas and the Australian plains are called Downa.

Q. No. 07: Name the chief mountains of the world?

Ans: - The principal mountain ranges of the world are: the Himalayas in Asia, the Alps, the Caucasus and

the Scandinavian mountains in Europe, the Atlas and the Abyssanian mountains in America, the Rockies

and the Appalachians in North America, The Andes in South America, the Sarat mountains in Arabia and

the Australian Alps in Australia.

Ans: - The sun, the winds and rain, the rivers and seas, earthquakes and volcanoes bring about these changes

Gradation. Gradation is of two types:

Degradation.

2. When material is deposited in new places ad collected there, it is called Deposition or Aggradation.

Ans: When land-material is removed by erosion or weathering of land is called Denudation or Degradation.

Forces like the sun, the wind, the rain, frost, running water, moving ice and the sea are some examples of

Denudation.

Lesson No. 03: The First Renaissance (600 AD)

Q. No. 01: When and where did the First Renaissance begin? What is the meaning of Renaissance?

Ans: - It began in 600 AD in Arabia and lasted till 1200 AD, spreading across the two largest continents of

Asia and Africa.

Q. No. 03: Write a note on the scientific advancement made in the Muslim Empire during the Middle Age?

Ans: - Wind-power and water power were studied and utilized and wind-mills and water-wheels were made.

Mathematics, the arts, and the sciences were developed.

was made from a plat and surgeries were done. Nine hundred new medicines were made and 000 new herbs

were discovered. Blood circulation was traced and vaccination was developed. Astronomy was also studied.

Comets, Sun spots and planets were observed. Large observatories were set up for this.

Reflection and refraction were studied. Maps, charts, compasses and astrolabes were made. Gun powder and

paper were manufactured in the Muslim Empire.

Q. No. 04: Why is the middle age called a Bright Age in the Muslim Empire but a dark age in Europe?

Ans: - The middle age was called a bright age in the Muslim empire but it was called a dark age in Europe.

This was because Europe was living in ignorance, backwardness and was totally cut off from the light of

faith and knowledge at the time when the Muslim empire was vibrating with the light of knowledge, faith

and education. Scholars’ cities flourished everywhere. The people lived a developed and advanced life –

style due to the inventions and discoveries made by the scholars and scientist in the Muslim empire.

Q. No. 07: How is the Qur’aan a scientific wonder?

Ans: - The Qur’aan is a perfect scientific wonder because it relates perfectly to the ever-advancing

knowledge, scientific discoveries and inventions of every different age, as if it was revealed in that particular

age only.

Q. No. 08: How is the Qur’aan a mathematical wonder?

Ans: It is a perfect mathematical master-piece, code-locked in a perfect manner.

Q. No. 09: How is the Qur’aan a literary wonder?

Ans: - It is a perfect literary master-piece because of its literary beauty and rhythm. Allah himself challenged

the people to make a single verse like the Qur’aan if they could, but they would not be able to do it.

Q. No. 11: Why is the Qur’aan a miracle?

Ans: - The Qur’aan is a miracle because of the following reasons:

1. It contains knowledge and information about all subjects and is an encyclopedia of knowledge.

2. It contains the solutions and cure of the different problems of different ages and this is because it is

not a time-bound book but it is a book for all times till the end of the world.

3. It has not and cannot be changed, not a word or letter can be altered. This is a guarantee given by

Allah himself.

4. It is a book which is read most widely, repeatedly and continuously I the world. No other book is

read like the Qur’aan.

Lesson No. 01: Health and Hygiene

Q. No.01: Name some harmful substances found in the Pork? Why does the Qur’aan prohibit eating of

pork?

Ans: - Pork contains a poisonous substance called Sutoxin, which leads to Eczema, Asthma, Joint-pain and

weakness. Pork also contains the highest quality of fat among all meats. This fat leads to heart diseases,

thickening and stiffening of arteries, hampering smooth blood circulation, paralysis and weakness. Pork-

eating also leads to a disease called Trichina and brain disease. Pork is the only meat which rots very quickly

and also emits a foul smell. That is why the Qur’aan prohibits pork eating.

Ans: - Alcohol, Wine, Beer or any intoxicant damages and destroys the body. Such intoxicants destroy the

digestive system, intestines and the liver. The liver of a regular alcoholic (drinker) shrinks slowly. He

develops disease of the stomach and heart and also develops obesity (extra fat).

Intoxicants destroy the bone marrow, weaken the bones and completely destroy the body’s defense system.

But that’s not all, wine and other intoxicants disturb blood circulation, leading to blood pressure and

hypertension and also destroy the kidneys.

Q. No. 10: Which veins of the body are thinner and tend to harden soon?

Ans: - All of us know that the blood veins away from the heart are thinner. In fact, the blood veins that are

farthest from the heart are the thinnest and get hard and brittle with age.

Lesson: The First World War (1914 - 1918)

Q. No. 01: Give the causes of the First World War?

Ans: - The causes of the First World War are as under:

1. The Industrial revolution in Europe and the newly found wealth there, made the European countries

more greedy and jealous of each other.

2. Each European country wanted more power, more wealth and more land.

3. Each country wanted to be the leader of Europe.

4. Colonialism was the chief cause of the war, as each European country wanted more and more

colonies.

5. Another important cause of this war was that Europe’s progress in knowledge and wealth was

godless. So, it was not able to digest its wealth and knowledge which it got suddenly from the

neighboring Muslim lands.

Q. No. 05: What were the results of the First World War?

Ans: - The results of the First World War are summed up as under:

1. Germany and her allies lost the war. France, Britain and her allies won the war.

2. Millions of people were killed.

3. The cities of Europe were badly damaged.

4. Millions of widows and orphans were left alone to fend for themselves.

5. There was a period of total economic breakdown. This period was called the Great Depression.

6. Kingships began falling apart.

7. Japan and America emerged as the most powerful countries.

Q. No. 08: Why was the war of 1914 called a world war?

Ans: - The First World War continued for four years from 1914 to 1918. Every day thousands of soldiers

died, millions of human lives were lost. Britain alone lost 60,000 people in one day. Before the war ended, a

revolution called the Communist Revolution broke out in Russia. The new communist government thought

that the war was useless. So it withdrew from the war before it ended.
