Mater Dei College Scholarship Information

Mater Dei College, Edgewater, is a Catholic Co-educational Secondary College established in 1993 to serve communities in the northern suburbs.

The College offers a supportive and enriching educational environment for students in Years 7-12, based on the pillars of Faith, Community, Service and Learning. As well as the traditional core areas, the College offers an extensive curriculum, particularly in performing and creative arts, sports, design and digital technology and languages.

Mater Dei College is well resourced with contemporary facilities to enhance the emerging trends in education and to facilitate effective learning. With a strong focus on pastoral care, at Mater Dei College we continue always to strive for a culture of personal excellence based upon high expectations.

Throughout its’ near on 25-year history, Mater Dei College has enjoyed an excellent reputation for quality Catholic secondary education forged on strong pastoral care and individual attention given to its students.

Mater Dei College holds a commitment to providing accessible quality education. As a result, the College is providing a number of full tuition fee* Scholarships for Year 7’s in 2018. The Scholarships are available to any prospective student and do not include any other specific purpose charges or levies. The Principal reserves the right to withdraw a Scholarship should the recipient underachieve or seriously breach College rules and regulations. Should the student leave the College prior to the conclusion of the full term of the Scholarship period, then the parents/guardians may be liable for the payment of tuition fees that may have been waived under the scholarship. A decision to charge these fees would be at the discretion of the Principal. The Scholarship will be reviewed on an annual basis of satisfactory progress.

*Full tuition fees will be paid for three years, 7-9.

PROCESS OF AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS• Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic selection. • The Principal will interview a short list of students and their parents and will evaluate the student’s suitability for the Scholarship. • The Principal will evaluate the student’s values and ethics. • The Principal is responsible for making the final decision.

SCHOLARSHIP TIMELINE• 9 August, 2017: Open date for scholarship registration (Parents will need to register online at https://scholarships.acer.edu.au)• 6 September, 2017: Closing date for registrations• 16 September, 2017: Test date• 25 October, 2017: Music aptitude test date

Tests for academic and music scholarships are held at Mater Dei College.

APPLICATION PROCESSAll applying students will need to register online at https://scholarships.acer.edu.au and complete the attached Scholarship Application Pack which is to be returned to the Enrolment Officer at Mater Dei College. Please note, those applying for the Music scholarship will be required to complete all questions in this document.
