Before you startBefore you start checking the scholarships, it is necessary that you consider the following general recommendations:

The calls for scholarships will request you always have the minimum level of English required to access the program of interest, unless clearly specified otherwise (as in the case of scholarships including leveling weeks before starting language studies). The requested level of English by colleges is usually an IELTS of 6.5, but some study fields such as Law, may require up to 7.5.

Although not explicitly mentioned, Australian universities generally don’t award scholarships to students who have already attained a high academic degree or the equivalent to the degree they will aspire to obtain in Australia. e.g., someone who has a master degree in its country, would not be able to compete for a master scholarship in Australia.

Melbourne Research Scholarship

Full scholarships / Tuition FeesOver 300 scholarships available each year.

Study Level: Higher Degree by Research

Elegibility and conditions:• The student must have completed tertiary studies that are at least equivalent to a 4-year honours degree at an Australian university with a minimum result of first class honours.• The student must have applied for admission to undertake a master or doctorate by research degree, or be currently enrolled in a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne

Closing dates: 31 October (Round 1) or 31 May (Round 2). However, the following faculties have more than two rounds:

International Postgraduate Research Scholarship

Full cost of tuition

Study Level: Postgraduate

Study Areas: Arts, Biomedicine, Comerce, Environment, Music and Science.

Elegibility and conditions:• Have completed tertiary studies that are at least equivalent

to a 4-year honours degree at an Australian university with a minimum result of first class honours

• Have applied for admission to undertake masters by research or doctorate by research degree at the University

• Not be enrolled in the course for which the student is seeking scholarship

• have not already completed a research qualification at the same or higher level as the course for which a scholarship is sought.

Closing dates: All year round.

International Postgraduate Coursework Award

Fee remissions of between 25% and 100% of tuition fees for the duration of the course.

Study Level: Postgraduate

Study Areas: All.

Elegibility and conditions:• Have applied for an eligible graduate coursework degree.• Be commencing study at the University of Melbourne for the

first time.• Not be in receipt of any other tuition fee remission scholarship

or sponsorship which, in combination with the IPCA, exceeds 100% of tuition fees

• Not have received any other scholarship provided by the Australian Government in the last 2 years.

Elegibility and conditions:• Have achieved excellent academic results.• Have been offered a place in a higher degree research program

at an Australian RMIT campus commencing in 2016.• Have been offered a place that is not conditional on meeting

English language requirements or provide evidence of English language proficiency that meets program entry requirements.

• Not already hold a research qualification equivalent to an Australian research doctorate or research masters (if applicable).

PhD Scholarships in Computer Science and IT

AUD$25000 per annum for three years

Study Level: PhD

Study Areas: Computer Science and IT.

Elegibility and conditions:• Have an undergraduate or a masters degree in the area of

Computer Science or related discipline, with outstanding grades.

• Meet RMIT’s PhD entry requirements.• Show evidence of research ability — e.g. an honours degree,

a minor thesis, some publication, or a well-developed preliminary research proposal, developed under the guidance of the supervisor.

• Have an interest in cross-disciplinary research and ability to work in a team.

AUD$5000 for one year.

Study Areas: civil, environmental or chemical programs.

Elegibility and conditions:• Have achieved excellent year 12 results with an Australian

Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) (or equivalent) of 90 or greater in 2014 or 2015.

Adelaide Scholarships International (ASI)

Study Areas: Those in which the University has shown a parti-cular research concentration

Elegibility and conditions: • Applicants should hold at least the equivalent of an Australian First Class Honours degree (this is a four year degree with a major research project in the final year). All qualifying programs of study must be successfully completed. • Candidates are required to enrol in the University of Adelaide as ‘international students’ and must maintain ‘international student’ status for the duration of their enrolment in the University.

Closing Dates: Round 1: August 31 for students commencing in semester 1. Round 2: January 15 for students commencing between March and August.Round 3: April 30 for students commencing between August and November.

Adelaide International Undegraduate Scholarships

Partial Scholarship 25% of tuition fees

Study level: Undergraduate.

Study Areas: Any discipline except Bachelor of Medicine, Bache-lor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Oral Health and Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Bioscience)

Elegibility and conditions: • The selection process for the Adelaide International Undergradua-te Scholarships is competitive, with academic achievement forming the main basis for scholarship selection. • As a general guide, the University of Adelaide will consider applicants who have achieved an academic level which is the equiva-lent of a GPA of 6/7 (85%) for a scholarship.• As the aim of the scholarship program is to attract excellent applicants from a wide range of countries, factors such as country of citizenship and program of study may also be taken into considera-tion in some cases in the scholarship selection process.

If you’re applying for undergraduate level, must have completed high school studies equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification, with a result approximately equivalent to 95 on the Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) scale • In order to retain the scholarship, you must maintain a GPA of 5.75 out of 7 on the QUT scale for each semester of study. • No separate application for the Scholarship is necessary.

Elegibility and conditions: • Have completed a qualifying course from any country outside Australia.• Meet minimum English language entry requirements of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent for direct admission to the degree program. • Start your coursework degree program no later than Semester 2, 2015 (July 2015).• In order to maintain the scholarship after the first year, the student must have a Grade Point Average of 5.5 out of 7.

No separate application for the Scholarship is necessary. If you are accepted into one of the eligible courses, and meet the criteria, you will receive the scholarship as well as a place in the course.

• Students who have already commenced/completed tertiary studies, or students transferring with credit exemptions and/or advanced standing, are not eligible.

• Applicants must have completed the equivalent of an Aus-tralian Bachelor degree qualification with outstanding results based on the Australian grading system, as deemed by the University of Sydney.

Academic Excellence Scholarships

Partial Scholarship Between AUD$10 000 and AUD$20.000

Study Level: All undergraduate and master programs offered by the University.

Elegibility and conditions: You must also have scored 85% or equivalent in your previous degree/award, and meet La Trobe’s English language and academic entry requirements.

You are not eligible if you are starting a Higher Degree by Research, exchange program, Study Abroad program, ELICOS and Foundation Studies program, or Diploma course.

Postgraduate Excellence Scholarships

Partial Scholarship 20% reduction on fees for the entire degree

Study level: postgraduate

Study areas: Any postgraduate course at La Trobe campus.

Elegibility and conditions: • Be applying to study a postgraduate course at any La Trobe campus.• Meet course prerequisites and have a weighted average mark (WAM) of 70 per cent or equivalent work experience.
