Message from the Principal
Hi Everyone
House Athletics Day at Morrison Reserve Athletics Track
Today staff met in the morning to go over the arrangements for
the day and any last questions. This day is a fantastic
community event where participation and fun are the keys and
the final result more a by-product rather than the sole focus of
the day.
The paperwork involved here at school is quite mountainous (as
it always is when all 600 of us hop on buses on the same day to
the same excursion). You can help in a number of ways:
Get your response in early
Pack for changing weather conditions… It may be sunny in
the morning, but conditions could turn cold. When packing,
remember morning tea snacks, lunch and a drink bottle.
Wear House colours and active footwear
On the day, speak directly to your child’s teacher if you are
taking them straight home and not travelling on the bus
If you are in the area come on up and join in the fun!
Prep 2019 Tours
Right now we are welcoming many families who are in the
process of choosing a school for their pre-schooler. As we move
around the school it is terrific to showcase the many aspects of
our school that make Montrose PS a fantastic place to be. As
we move through the main building our visitors take in the
wondrous artwork, fun in the Chinese room and our extensive
library. Each class door opened reveals children working
independently, on task, while teachers conference individuals
or small groups… from grade 6 right through to prep! Mums,
grandparents and the odd dad hearing kids read in the corridors
and break spaces. The shouts and calls from PE mingle with the
sound of 25 ukuleles from the music room. The smell of
chicken noodle soup in the canteen is very inviting.
If you know of anyone who has a kinder child and is looking for
a school for 2019 spread the word… and tell your story.

Making Payments for Families
Many families pay multiple amounts for different excursions and activies.
If making multiple payments by EFTPOS, you only need to fill out the EFTPOS/Credit Card
details ONCE, for the total amount.
All permission slips will need to be returned but for your convenience the payment section
only needs to be filled in once, for the total of all activities being paid for.
Reporting your Child’s Absences
All parents are legally required to report and explain each of their child’s absences to school. While you may report verbally to the teacher, it is also necessary to report the absence to the school office either by our Parent Portal, Phone, or email. The Parent Portal is an easy and convenient way to report absences. It also assists the school in keeping more accurate data on your child’s absence reasons. We encourage all parents to try out the parent portal for reporting future absences and for explaining current absences. The portal can be accessed via this link: https://sentral.montroseps.vic.edu.au/portal2/#!/login Save the link to the homescreen of your smart device or as a favorite on your computer. If you need any assistance with the parent portal, please contact the school office.
Have a great week!

VALUE OF THE WEEK Cleanliness
What is it?
Orderliness means being well organised. It is having a place to keep things until you need them. Orderliness means planning things so
that they happen the way you would like them to instead of just leaving things up to good
luck.
Orderliness means behaving in a way that helps the well being of others. It is being neat
and taking care with everything you do

Chelsea W 2VP This super organised student is always thinking ahead to what needs to be done, not only for her, but for others too. Hayden G 4XN Never one to make excuses, he always finds a way! Whether it be applying himself to his studies, learning an instrument or an extra foreign language, socialising or participating in a variety of recreational pursuits - he does it all. Due to his well-honed organisational habits, he never appears to be rushed, flustered or tired. Which is further evidenced by his immaculate presentation and the incredibly high standards he holds himself to, for any task he undertakes. A real standout who deserves to be recognised.
Lily M 6Q This students works extremely hard
To make sure everything is done
She shows initiative when doing tasks
And she finds a challenge fun,
If she is in your class rest assured
You’ll never forget a thing
Aside from finding all my stuff
She is terrific at organising
There’s only one problem lily
And it’s such a shame you’ll see
She didn’t organise her own award
To make life even easier for me
