Hamilton Elementary First Grade
Hamilton Elementary School First Grade Packet
Weeks 3 & 4
Dear First Graders and Parents,
Hello from your teachers! We all miss you and hope that you are staying healthy!
Please take the time to check your Classdojo messages and stories. Your teacher will use the
Classdojo messages as the main way to communicate with you. Each teacher has sent her office
hours through Dojo messaging. The office hours are a time for us to be able to help you with
your packets or to just say, "hi!"
The packets are part of The School District of Lancaster's continuity of educational plan. Effort
was made to meet a variety of student needs, therefore we have provided an assortment of
activities. The activities will not be graded and are optional. Although the packets are optional,
we encourage you to complete the activities to stay on top of your learning. You may choose to
take a picture of your work and send it to your teacher through Classdojo.
The district recommends the following times for at home learning:
• 30 minutes of Independent Reading 5 times a week
• 30 minutes of ELA/Social Studies 2 times a week
• 30 minutes of Math 3 times a week
• 30 minutes of Science 1 time a week
• 20 minutes of specials - Choose one activity from each special per week.
Of course, you should do what works best for your schedule and family needs.
We look forward to hearing from you and seeing your work. Please stay safe and healthy!
Hugs,
Ms. Cullen, Mrs. Glick, Miss Sangrey, Mrs. Sisko, Mrs. Stathopulos and Mrs. Vassor

First Grade Art - Week of April 20th
Art: Option 1: Find objects in your house and line them up to create big shapes on the floor. Use at least 10 objects to create your shapes. Try to build a circle, square, rectangle, and triangle. See how big you can make them!
Art: Option 2: Color Scavenger Hunt! Look around your home to find three objects of each color: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple. Line them up in that order to make a rainbow.

Music at Home!
Hi, everyone! I hope you and your family are doing well. I miss you! Here are
some music activities from which to choose:
Freeze Dance!
19 This is similar to the 'Rock and Roll Freeze Dance" that we have done in music class. If you can use a device to play music, choose a song and have a member of your household (child or adult) press play so you can dance to the music. Find the steady beat before you begin to dance. Next, ask your partner to surprise you by randomly pressing pause. When the music stops, FREEZE! Repeat this until the song ends, and then switch roles with your partner. Choose different songs that are fast and slow! Listen to the songs once without dancing, and see how many different instruments you hear in the songs. Say the names of the instruments out loud, and take turns naming instruments with your partner.
Name That Tune/Name That Movie!
RM _J Hum a song for someone in your house, and see how quickly they can guess which song you're humming. You can choose many different songs, and you can also switch with your partner and see how quickly you can guess their song!
Then ... hum a song from your favorite movie (Disney movies or other animated movies work really well for this)! See if your partner can guess from which movie the song is! Take turns with your partner. Hint: you might be able to stump your partner by choosing the same movie again but humming a different song from that movie!
Good luck!
