GIRVAN ACADEMY
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN
2012 - 2013
2 School Improvement Plan 2012-2013
3 School Improvement Plan 2012-2013
This improvement plan is based on two external evaluations carried out by HMIe in May 2009 and May 2010. The HMIe report published in 2009 highlighted four areas for improvement which are reflected in the plan. The HMIe follow through report published in 2010 gave pointers where the school could seek to further improve aspects of the work of the school. In addition, the school analyses SQA data and used additional assessment tools, to set targets for improvement in attainment and achievement. Observation of classes and sampling pupil experiences on a weekly basis is a key feature of the school, ensuring that learning and teaching is focused on positive outcomes for our pupils. Our quality assurance is improving, based on HGIOS, supported by IT solutions to analyse and feed back information to staff and pupils. Pupils are consulted widely in all departments.

30 School Improvement Plan 2012-2013
All five strategic priorities overlap in order to achieve positive outcomes for young people. All contribute to the Academy’s capacity for continuous improvement. This session, due to the demands in secondary schools to prepare young people for the last year of the broad general education, and the interface of the BGE with the Senior phase, staff development time will have a greater priority to delivering against Priority 5.
