School history of Osnabrück

Osnabrück has a school history since

1,200 years.

• In 804 AD the Gymnasium Carolinum was founded by Emperor Charlemagne and isprobably the oldest school in Germany.

1648 Westphalian Peace in Osnabrück and Münster

1595 Ratsgymnasium was inaugurated, it is theoldest non-spiritual school in the city ofOsnabrück.

„Osnabrücker Schulmuseum“ - Focus

• Focus of the collection is on the

20th century(until about 1960).

• The exhibition and the presentation of a historical class focus the time around

1920.

„Osnabrücker Schulmuseum“ - presentation

The focus is on the work in the history workshop (witha cellar archive and a classfor historical lessons). The historical class shows theschool atmosphere of a school of the 1920s, whichcould be found still in the1960s.

• 22 wooden double benches with ink receptacle, blackboard for music notes, various slate boards, styluses, satchels, pen holders, ink, a display case with exhibits, maps, among others a Palestinian map and maps of thedistrict, history maps, teaching materials, scientificmodels, further didactic materials, a teacher's table on a pedestal, a school piano, etc.Exhibition space and place of learning for historicallessons

• The equipment follows the requirements of a decreefor Prussia of 1924.
