North Queensland Flood
Fundraiser
On Wednesday I accompanied our School Captains to
Gympie Special SS for a photo with a number of the
other schools in Gympie that participated in the Free
Dress Day to support the flood victims in Northern
Queensland.
The photo and a short story will be in the Gympie Times
shortly recognising the great support from our Gympie
State Schools in raising $5,737.65.
Student Protection Education
This Year One Mile SS will be implementing as part of the National Curriculum the Daniel Morcombe Child Safety unit to all students from Prep to Year 6. In the newsletter next Term there will be some information around the topics and the content of what will be delivered at the school.
If you have any questions regarding the delivery of this
very important part of the curriculum please contact
myself or Mrs Eastwood.
Cross Country
Thank you to all Parents and Community members for
your understanding around the Cross Country being
postponed due to the wet weather this week. We will
hold the Cross Country next Monday the 1st of April first
thing in the morning. We will run the same timetable but
we will be holding it on the school grounds due to the
work continuing on One Mile Ovals across the road.
My First Year Prep Photo
I hope all Prep parents managed to get their hands on
the Wednesday edition of the Gympie Times this week
to get your copy of the three great Prep classes we have
here at One Mile.
If you missed out and would like a picture please contact
the office as I think we may still have a few copies left in
the staffroom.
Attendance
Great job once again Year 6 for having the best
attendance last week. Our Year 6 students were our
only cohort to reach our target of 95%.

OMSS TRIATHLON Wednesday 13th March was the 2019 OMSS Triathlon. Everyone that started the triathlon completed the full
course and crossed the line with a smile on their face! What a super morning with the music blaring and the
contagious enthusiasm of the awesome crowd! There was a huge line up of high fives from the spectators at
the finish line.
“The triathlon was awesome! Everyone should have a go. You won’t regret it!” said William. Special thanks to
all the staff volunteers. We couldn’t have the event without you! Thanks for organising another super triathlon

Gympie Primary Leaders Day All the Year 6 students were fortunate to attend the Gympie Primary Leaders Day on February 28th
at Cooloola Christian College. It was a wonderful day of learning about leadership, taking risks,
pushing boundaries and working as a team.
Our leaders were challenged on the indoor and outdoor climbing walls. They learnt about strategies
to increase confidence, initiative, empathy and communication. All these skills are necessary for a
lifetime of success. Our leaders had to work together as a team to conquer the Gold Mining
Challenge! They also used art to create a visual representaion of leadership. They drew this on a
calico bag and they got to keep the bag. It certainly was an amazing day completely packed with
awesome activities lead by inspirational leaders! Thanks to the Year 6 teachers for supporting an
awesome day and thanks to Mrs Cantle for organising the day.
Entry and parking via Phoenix Street or McLeod Lane. If you’re Interested in attending our playgroup please contact the office on 07-5480-2777
