Thompson and Beeker address CCRC Members of the Coffee County Republican Club (CCRC) enjoyed hearing from two candidates for statewide office in the 2014 Republican Primary. PSC place 2 candidate Chip Beeker gave a very informative presentation of the effects of EPA regulations on the future employment of the Ala- bama coal industry. Auditor candidate Adam Thompson discussed the importance of accurate tracking of all state properties, which is the function of the auditors office. Dr. Chad Epps, Health Professions, an associate professor and director of simulation, is “committed to promoting teaching excellence with the use of innovative teaching techniques” and technologies, a colleague says. He uses everything from face-to-face interaction to blended classes to Twitter in the classroom to engage with his students and efectively communicate hard-to- teach material. Epps also is renowned for his use of clinical simulations---not just for the beneit of his students, but also to share techniques with instructors at UAB and around the country. “he instructors who have learned from him have made signiicant improvements in their teaching techniques,” says one colleague. “Not only are the instructors beneiting, but students all over the country really appreciate it---and it shows in their ability to learn diicult concepts in diicult courses. Epps is married to the former Deborah Ann Dyess, whose parents, John G. (Bill) and Barbara Lou Dyess live in Enterprise. he Epps have two children, Evelyn Lou, 7, and Ellis Ann (Ellie), 4.
