beginning JewelrY AA106-1 Instructor: Lisa OristianThis course is designed for the beginning-level student with no previous jewelrymaking experience. Students will learn, through demonstrations and projects, basic techniques including sawing, texturing, riveting, soldering, chain making and bezel setting. Students can work in silver, copper and brass, which may be purchased at the reception desk.

mixed mAteriAlS JewelrY AA106-3 Instructor: Lisa OristianThis class will explore ways to incorporate unusual or unexpected materials into metal jewelry. Examples are plastic, resin, epoxy, aluminum, wood, paper, fabric, leather, etc. Students are invited to bring in materials and found objects they would like to incorporate into their jewelry and class sessions will focus on design possibilities to make it work. This is a great opportunity for metals students to learn about cold connection, to explore ways to put color into their metal jewelry and to come up with ways to make their jewelry highly personal by incorporating personal artifacts into their work. Beginning jewelry/metal arts experience required.

exploring enAmeling techniqueS AA106-4 Instructor: Aleana D’AnielloStudents will explore a different enameling technique, with increasing difficulty, each week. Classes will focus on each specific technique and will offer the students time to practice techniques they may not have tried previously or had time to master. Previous metalsmithing experience is helpful, but not necessary. Techniques covered will include, stencil, sgraffito with liquid enamels, pliqué-a-jour, champlevé, and cloisonné. Students can purchase metal needed for the class at the school.

photogrAphY AA105-1Instructor: Keith SandmanBeginning and intermediate students learn to process their own black and white or color photographs. Classes combine lectures, lab and critiques. Upon registration students must choose to work in either black and white or color.

beginning digitAl photogrAphY AA120-1Instructor: Keith SandmanThis course is designed to help those wishing to advance their interest in the art of photography through the use of their digital camera, and the digital darkroom. Topics will include: learning to use the camera controls, improving shooting skills, optimizing the image using Photoshop, and making quality enlargements using inkjet printers. Some computer experience is helpful.

Art booK deSignAA120-2 Instructor: Kathleen NathanThis course will introduce students to concepts, tech-niques, and technologies that will allow them to design and produce art/photo books using personal computers and graphic design software.This class will introduce students to the key elements of book design, typography, editing and layout. Students will learn how to use Photoshop and Book Smart software to create a professional quality book and other methods of making and printing limited edition and one-of-a-kind books.

figure drAwing AA101-2 Instructor: Natalie LaneseThe study of human form is essential for every art student. This course emphasizes the interrelationship within the figure. Gestural drawing, contour drawing and other methods of recording the figure are the foundation of this course. A nude model will be used.

pAinting AA102-1 Instructor: Chris CirilloThis is a hands-on class that explores painting through practical applications and experiences that relate line, form, texture, and color, while also investigating how these visual relationships relate to the artist’s inten-tions and the meaning of the work. The projects will have some flexibility in order to accommodate both beginners and experienced painters. Students who want this class to have an independent study struc-ture will be accommodated. The instructor will help each student with individual problem solving, along with brief lectures and critiques for the class as a group.

Instructor: Francy CaprinoThis is a serious portfolio development course that will focus on building and improving drawing skills, an important criteria for art college admission. Students will work from the still life and figure (no nude models), as well as self-portrait. Instruction will cover line quality and gesture drawing, negative space exercises, proportion and measuring, texture and value. Students will explore a variety of media, including: Conté, charcoal, ink, gesso and collage. All students will receive a final review of their work and additional information to help them build a strong portfolio.

A Summer Art experience JuSt for KidSLittle artists bloom by enrolling in KidsArt Summer Fun designed to develop skills in art. • Classes are held in School of Art studios and are taught by dedicated, enthusiastic instructors who respond to a child’s creative spirit. Instructors are available at the end of each session to discuss each child’s progress.• These little artists will proudly display their creations at an exhibition and reception held in the School of Art Gallery at the conclusion of the program on Thursday, August 2.• This summertime program is perfect for kids and their parents.

mini monetCA099-1/CA099-2(Ages 4 and 5)Instructor: Stephanie BevinsStudents will learn the basics in art such as cutting, pasting, shapes and colors, in a safe comfortable environment. Activities will include collage, sculpture, painting and drawing. This class will also help children with social interaction through group activities. Due to the same lesson plan each session, children may only enroll in ONE session each semester.

At mid-morning, the students will have a 15-minute snack break under the supervision of the teacher. (Please provide a snack for your child each day).

At the end of the first two weeks, the students who have been in painting and drawing class will switch to clay class and those who have been in clay class during the first two weeks will switch to painting and drawing class.

Something for eVerYoneClasses for boys, girls, men and women are offered in six-week sessions in ballet, jazz and tap.

To accommodate family vacation schedules, classes missed may be made up in another class during the summer.

The instructors recommend that all dance students in Level 2 and above attend at least two classes weekly. Although classes are listed individually, students should take all classes offered in their level to make the maximum progress during the summer. Summer is also a great time to try something different — be daring.

Returning students should also register for the same level they attended in the spring unless the instructor invites the student to advance.

New students are invited to discuss placement with the program coordinator. Please be advised that some changes may be made during the first week of classes.
